ParticipantWeights are nice, but that “trying too hard” look does go everywhere you go. We really should be looking at what is best for our 80’s. I know too much running isn’t it, heavy weights probably aren’t. Long live sport, or vanity, or testosterone, or freedom or whatever makes you tick though.

ParticipantI live in the hills and can ride 20 miles or more in dirt on “out and backs” from home, maybe way more . I just run though. I had a soft-tail mountain bike and never liked it . My kids have a BMX track.

ParticipantYes I am that afraid to rid a bike far a wide on san diego streets and rural roads.
Though it seems more like being responsible and using common sense when children are dependent on me.NotCranky

Sure on the road where you can coast. No coasting on these spin bikes.
I agree that it is boring….and not at all necessary….I have taken the one hour class exactly once. I went 30 miles. If you can do 30 mph for an hour, you’re either Iron Man or the bike wasn’t set to emulate a real bike too well 🙂
This being said, given the right kind of road, you don’t HAVE to coast or rest up if you don’t want to.
Yeah, it was pretty generous,,but I can do mid 20’s in a hour on the regular stationary training bike (lifecycle) with no class to help (though I usually do a half hour). Then I go lift girly weights and chat it up.I have ridden on the road but won’t do it since my kids came along.

ParticipantThis rant of your’s , scaredy, it sounds way to judgmental !

Participant
Spin class … bleeeeeech. I’d rather do the real thing, meaning an actually bike on roads or trails.
ParticipantI bet you would be talking shit if you tried a one hour spin class and tried to keep up with some of those women. C’mon anyone can ride a stationary bike.

ParticipantMcCain got his butt handed to him at another town hall meeting, this time in beautiful Prescott AZ. Basically pretending to himself that AZ wants what he wants….a whole lot of war. Can’t be farther from the truth.
Hilary endorsed O’s proposal. Can’t remember where I saw it.

ParticipantJust an example of my tendency to extemporize I guess. I mean ,depending on war to thrive as a nation is a cause for concern about our country’s condition and outlook.
Of course the violence is demoralizing too.
What is potentially demoralizing about the warmongering to you? How do you think that it is demoralizing to the country?

Participant

Thanks for sharing that video, paramount. Makes sense to me, too. There is very little reason to believe what we’re being told by our govt.
I don’t know which version is accurate, but is there a reason to believe the Russian government over the US government?
If you don’t believe the U.S government , since it’s kind of a yes or no deal, that guides one to believe the Russian view. Even if the U.S. is closer to the truth they could be exaggerating quite a bit.
At this point I don’t think most Americans want military action regardless of the facts. The warmongering is demoralizing to this country. It makes it look like we can not succeed on our own merits anymore and that begs lots of other questions…like why?

Participant
So why do we need to be the world’s police force again?
“World’s police force” is not a very accurate description. The policing is too selective and follows our interests around. Some people say we act like a school yard bully and there is some bullying, but I think we act more like mob bosses, ruthlessly attempting to cultivate and maintain hegemony on what we see as our prize “turf”.NotCranky
ParticipantI feel stronger now about the possibility that, behind the scenes, Russia and the U.S. are attempting to negotiate a mutually tolerable power structure in Syria. Assad may go out by (clandestine) agreement between the two powers. Not sure how all that would look if it happens. It seems much preferable to the current trends, so I hope it happens.
