ParticipantAt least he is not keeping up with the “towel heads”. Are you anti-semetic too?
I agree with lost kitty JG. Always thought you could use a couple of prunes in your diet. You are in rare form today though.
Excuse me I have to go build a cabana down in the ravine for the illegals passing through to sleep comfortably at night. Need to print more of these maps to La Jolla first.Nice discussion all, Pretty impressive depth.

Participant4runner You and I are so similiar at our core that it doesn’t matter if we are religious or not.I would not harm or steal from you because we in many ways rely on each other to survive.I do not want to risk retaliation for hurting your interests because that threatens my survival both immediately and when my son and your daughter need eachother to promote the race. When survival or the perception of one’s ability to survive is threatened the stuff hits the fan. Sometimes this reality or perception results in stolen BMW’s. As humans sometimes this phenomena plays out on a grand scale and we have wars, usually religion is used to promote support that primative endeavor. Rationalism might help us avoid it. So might a really ethical religion but IMO religion is a slippery slope. Monkeys are not religious but they don’t kill each other under normal circumstances. You really mistrust human instincts and intellect apparently. It seems you also gloss over the negative aspects of religion? You also seem to think that all inspiration for dicipline comes from some religious source. We discipline our children and ourselves, they and my wife and I are capable of living lifes adventures side by side with yours and you(if you have them). Now throw in oil (survival) a couple of different religions, like say Christianity and Islam and you have fodder for a crusade.

Temecula Guy: No offense to you with that little joke.I am really impressed with your posts of the last two weeks. you area very versatile individual it appears.
The most extreme REO slash I have seen so far was a 16 acre property in Boulevard that sold with a brand new maufactured home in 2005 for 440k. It just closed for 312K(29%). I think areas like City Heights and Encanto will be the first in the city to get hit like that.Numerous detached SFR’s will get into the 200’s at that point. Not a great place to live IMO but that’s a start. Any of those inner city areas that didn’t gentrify will add mass to the snowball, and it will spread like that perhaps? I really expect to see a big discounts in those areas any day now. I did a random search of one of them and the first three properties were REO.I should have done it until I got one that wasn’t. It would have been a desperation flip I bet.

Participant“Good thing that we have lots of money to burn in this city.”
JG the city is only providing the first loaf of bread, which was donated by a good samaritan. Jesus will be on hand to multiply the loaves. You should be greatful for the “Basket of plenty” in La Jolla. It might take some pressure off your soup kitchen. I heard they won’t be checking ID’s as you have said, but they will be checking bank statements to keep the conservative christians happy. Would you like to volunteer?
Keep up that Christian spirit.God bless you.Baseball Guy,
Good job with the coaching. I wonder did you have a large discussion about the implications of the P of A from many perspectives or did you just get them to recite it real puppet like? Thanks for being careful not to hijack threads JG. Some of your comrades are really hurt over our last discussion. I don’t think they realize that we don’t tend to hijack threads while they are still the focus of the first post.I certainly don’t mean any disrespect to anyone who doesn’t enter the fray voluntarily. that said if they do get in he “kitchen and can’t stand the heat” they should just leave without going to other threads to discredit us amongst the more steadfast housing bubblers.

ParticipantYou are absoultely right Donald, The agency law in California maintains that the principle is liable for almost everything but the agents “Torts”, Of course in real life good agents, or their brokers, correct the mistakes they make, usually with that big o fat commission. Knock on wood I have never had to. In my experience it is not very easy to get someone in trouble over the small potatoes generally involved in real estate disptutes. If someone is honest they probably don’t even need to carry E&O. I have tried to get help with Cheaters and rule benders, as with most agencies, the DRE is practically lame duck, there are many offenses they will jump on but they don’t referee the buisness. “Somebody has to be smarter and have more integrity than the schmucks you run into out there, as in “a ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” Most problems are handled, between the parties, by mediation, and by small claims. Mold is a “pet case” ,drummed up by Lawyers probably. There always seems to be one “issue of the day” over which one will be sued to allow lawyers to steal to make a living. In the case discussed here on mold, somebody probably forgot to fill out a “required mold disclosure” and some ambulance chaser jumped on it. Could even have been a dIY seller who got scammed. I say shame on the system and the people who use it for things like this. Disclaimer: CYA

ParticipantHey Cy ,
I think this one is going to fizzle out for me. Look religion is too entrenched in our society and our debating counter parts have dug their heels in as well.At least they don’t deny that dinosaurs existed anymore and they can tolerate the word evolution. Maybe in 25 more years they will admit we are primates at least animals. We will be long dead before any real progress is made on this. I don’t think I want to push JG into a discussion about homosexuality. He will probably bash for a page or two of posts and then say his best friend is homosexual, can and does practice christianity just fine but will never get to heaven. Hopefully this whole religious thing backfires on them some day. Not so that they get hurt but so that the insanity unwinds a little bit. This conversation has made me want to do a new survey on Christians, who are they and what do they believe, I think I have made too many assumptions based on mostly having had these conversation with blue collar Christians who mainly seemed to be that way by default or “born again” types. Just a nice ace in the hole to be Christian, something to fall back on after years of careless, ignorant living. I have met some good living “progressive” christians who were still kind of establishement types. My wife’s childhood friend is one . She is a professor of theology.I am looking forward to meeting her soon for the first time.Having had my chat with ST.Thomas Aquinas ( progressive catholic in his day)here on the blog(JG in modern times), has opened my eyes a bit.I also want to study the seperation of church and state history further. I don’t accept JG’s answer that it is practically an accident that it was ever mentioned.I think it had something to do with ridding the new world of the Anglican church’s power. I also think many of the founding fathers were Deists. I don’t really have much hope we can change anything on a large scale CY. Like I said in a much earlier post, people above 30 don’t change much and those people are brain washing the children.I ahve already told my kids they can choose to believe what they want( They will likely be great philosophers like their dad). I think it is a good idea not to be a strong Atheist or promote it. It causes too big of a knee jerk reaction in many Christians. I am not an atheist, deist or agnostic anyway. My take on it is that it is not my problem to define myself in terms of a response to the possiblity of the supernatural, especially to people who have decided that they know that some passed down mythology is closer to the truth than saying I don’t know is. My problem is to live that is all. I think the human race has less to fear and more hope of peace without the quazi- government branch called religion. I just can’t imagine JG or pretty much anyone in his shoes going home and saying. “Hey family, I have had a different kind of enlightenment and we are not going to be Catholics anymore.” Or “I am going to help Russ and CY with their goal of seperating church and state because the whole thing is blasphemous to my wonderful “GOD” who is personal to me and some of my friends but not for every body.” He knows the value of being religious and the government and his many of his peers being affected by it. Changing ones religious views does happen of course in young people, but it is pretty rare later, unless some other trigger is involved like Alcoholism recovery, a mistress,a divorice ,a mid life crisis, coming out of the closet or something like that.
Anyway he has been a pretty good sport as always.
