ParticipantRealtor.com had 8 of 9 listings from the MLS. I am not sure if some sites are better than others for getting your due diligence underway. I usually use the MLS, of course.
Feel free to pitch out more about what you are trying to do and perhaps why. I wouldn’t mind throwing in my two cents.Besides the RE license, I am a general contractor.
More info, makes it easier for the rest of the piggs to give you feedback too,if you want any beyond your specific question. Many people here have knowlege that compliments that of the of the real estate types on these projects.

ParticipantYes ,Thanks.
We were able to come back last night. No evidence of the fire can be seen from our fairly expansive views of the country side. Just worked out that way. Even the ash is very mininimal. I am back to trying to finish the house, which I started building Aug. 06, for Christmas visits. For a while I thought I might be coming back to start over.Did you get caught up in the evacuations? I haven’t and probably won’t get caught up on reading threads. Haven’t heard of any piggs who lost a home . I certainly feel bad for the hardships people face dealing with rebuilding and with insurance companies especially.
Having spent my entire life in either Ventura, Santa Barbara or San Diego counties this is no novelty to me. I remember fires raging in Ojai during Vietnam when I was about 7 and not really being sure they were not related.

ParticipantHi Adam and all piggs,
Yes doing fine. Thanks for asking. I left Monday because we have only one long winding road out to/from our property and also it looked like air quality was going to get bad for my kids.We are with a friend here in San Carlos and having a nice visit. Mandatory evacuation came yesterday after the winds shifted. My property is north of Skyline Truck Trail. The area may burn, probably not, but even if it does not many of our houses will burn because the winds are tame and so many resources are in town.I have cleared brush at least 300 ft in all directions.Tommorow A.M. will probably decide the issue of whether fire is going to jump into Lawson valley or not. I envision massive air support and basically a pounidng of the fire into submission. We will see. Like I said earlier, after the Cedar fires and now this amazing situation, nothing is to be taken for granted. It looks like, other than Julian, we might be the last people allowed back in, oh well.I have been reading here. Haven’t heard from Allan of Fallbrook. That was a pretty scary deal up there. Hope he is doing well.
Best wishes to all piggs and your families.

Participant“went to the meeting in ramona today with fire officials and the prevailing opinion was that the winds would die down this evening… not the greatest assumption in my book”
Unbelievable. The wind is ripping through the hills and canyons right now.
Not that it is the right time to knock people butI always did wonder how a fire burns from Julian almost to the ocean and then back to the dessert.I can see the other fire too, just a glow beyond Lyons peak. Supposedly there is a portion of it coming north west. It is still pretty far though. That said, after the cedar fire I take nothing for granted.
I did call a guy who works for me now and then and lives near that one to see if he needs a place to stay. Haven’t heard from him.I am sure he knows how to take care of himself.NotCranky
