Participantwow, Thanks for posting as I was trying to get an update and nothing is online on any of the news channels on evacuations for RB and Poway. We are renting in RB and the smoke was so bad we left yesterday. I have a newborn at home. How did you hear of the evacuation anddo you know if it’s the entire city’s or just parts?
Please post any other info. you might have as we are up in Murrieta and only get LA news here!
Thanks…and I can’t believe that it’s this blog that has the most up to date info.

We were ordered to evacuate 4:15am but we left last night for the Lomas Serenas off of Via Rancho PArkway but we got ordered to evacuate again at 4:00am. We left via Del Dios and it was very smokey at 4:30 am. Any info would be appreciated.

ParticipantJust fyi… Parts of Carmel Valley have been evaced (everything north of 56).
Living south of 56, I'm currently hosting a few families. But I'm waiting for the evac orders to extend south. This isn't good.
Basically, the problem is no aircrafts are flying right now because it's too windy and we're still waiting for fire equipment from NorCal to arrive. Also, the winds keep pushing the fires west.

ParticipantI’m in RB and we haven’t been evacuated yet, but really thick smoke isn’t far away. This is really bad. We have friends in westwood who are pretty sure their house has burned.
If this is as bad as I think it is, this will save the SD housing market for the next year or two….lots of buyers with money about to enter the market.

Participantmany retirees will take this opportunity to move somewhere. The result will be a lot of affordable new homes (build to replace the lost homes). However, would you buy in an area that has a second major fire in 4 years?
We are still too early to be able to tell what is the extent of the damage. If the damage is in the range of several thousand homes then I think it will bring in a lot of contruction businesses with insurance and federal/state aid money.

ParticipantFolks,
The last I checked is that the Witch fire has now moved near Fairbanchs Ranch (approach). Del Mar residencesy residence are being asked to evac.
As I posted on another thread, I have evaced from Carmel Valley and now am in Los Angeles. As such, I cannot provide any additional updates beyond what I can read from UT.
I left CV around 7:30pm, and traffic I-5 northbound was fine. The smoke was modereate think near I-5/56 area, but seemed to be less when we got to carlesbad. Then, it got really heavy right before camp pendelton. And dropped off as we approached the checkpoint. Traffic was fine I-5 northbound.
If you are near any areas currently being evaced but haven't been asked to evac, and you haven't started to pack, please do yourself a favor and start packing.
If you're frantic, and need some suggestions on what to take, take a look here
http://piggington.com/evacuees_please_make_sure_to_bring_the_following
Also, if you aren't living alone, have someone stay up watching the news all night (take turns). You and your family's safety is worth the restless night.
I wish the best of luck and safety for all of you. Although I am not pious, I will definitely wish the best for all of you tonight. Good luck and safe travel wherever you folks are going.

If you are near any areas currently being evaced but haven't been asked to evac, and you haven't started to pack, please do yourself a favor and start packing.
If you're frantic, and need some suggestions on what to take, take a look here

Also, if you aren't living alone, have someone stay up watching the news all night (take turns). You and your family's safety is worth the restless night.
I wish the best of luck and safety for all of you. Although I am not pious, I will definitely wish the best for all of you tonight. Good luck and safe travel wherever you folks are going.

ParticipantJust a note to help track the front of the fire – news showed video of a house on fire in Rancho Santa Fe on Vista Ranco Court. This is about 6 or 7 miles from the coast.

ParticipantHas anyone heard of updates on the RB/Poway area? Is there still fire in the area? Are residents being allowed to go back in? If anyone has info. please post.
Also, I heard that some homes in The Trails in RB burnt. I have a friend that left her home as the flames were approaching. -
