ParticipantI haven’t had any issues with AmEx and have grown quite confident using this card (knock on wood). I’ve used it here in SD, all over the u.s., in the middle east, in Africa, China, Europe, Central and South America, and of course on the internet… Never once was it declined. Once in L.A. there was a fraud attempt on my account: I used the card in a restaurant and within *minutes* of my food purchase there was an attempt to buy $10,000 worth of movie making equipment… It was easy to track it to the restaurant employees (so much for their budding film career).
Amex also earns points.

ParticipantNot really. From even your link,
The police stated that Lynn Sharpe Underwood leads the city's newly formed Gang Commission. "Mira Mesa is not particularly high in crime, thus fewer police" officers are deployed here.
Dave Collins, gang detective and former member of the anti-grafitti unit then spoke. He also said there are "a number of" Philipino gangs, comprising 5 to 12-15 members each. He implied these latter are less organized and less permanent.
5-member gangs? Wow, better call in the armed forces. Is this the Filipino gang that hangs out at Starbucks playing chess every day? Those guys are bad-ass. One time I saw one wearing his baseball cap at a slight, crooked angle. It was highly gang-like.
As I said, I've been here for 12 years and know every inch of Mira Mesa. I guess I'm lucky to be alive with all these gangs and bullet holes everywhere.

ParticipantAsian gangs? Hmmmm… been living in Mira Mesa since about 1996. Never ran across a gang in 12 years there. MMHS ranks pretty high academically. Mira Mesa ain’t pretty but it ain’t no South Central LA, homie. Quite a livable town, just a bit old.
The fact is, there’s so little to do in MM besides go to the movies that if there were a gang surely they’d hang out somewhere else. There isn’t even a pool hall in Mira Mesa. Just a bunch of restaurants and strip malls and everything closes early just like in most of SD.

ParticipantLOL. What a weird gift. Maybe tell them you’re having an allergic reaction to it or your family is having seizures due to the garish colors. Or tell them your HOA doesn’t approve.
For some strange reason my client’s family keeps giving me strange gifts. On Friday I received an egg slicer thing (one of those things that cuts an egg into several perfect slices with one chop). I don’t know why I receive such things. I figure that on the rare occasion that I want a finely sliced egg I can do it with a few flicks of a knife.
I’ve received so many candles and picture frames I started giving them out as gifts. I have to be careful not to re-gift the thing to the person who gave it to me.
I do like it when the wives of friends take pity on the “lonely single guy” and bring gifts of home-made food… Good wine or beer is always a great gift too… Never art!
