Participant
Wouldn’t some of you say that NFL franchises are private businesses that have the right to operate under their own private rules?
I think it’s pretty smart of private businesses to have diversity. It flows to the bottom line.
You need managers that reflect the diversity of your employees and customer base. It’s a dollars and sense approach, IMO.
The San Diego Chargers should lead the way, maybe start by having 50% of their players be white and 30% be hispanic with 10% asian, 5% black and 5% multi-ethnic.

ParticipantUsed to have it two years ago, can’t get it in the new house.
It worked great. And UVerse OnDemand with the TV for free programming was like having most everything on the DVR without bothering to put it on the DVR.
We had one consistent problem, AT&T LA based DNS servers were garbage. Had to reset things to point to Google or I regularly got DNS problems.

ParticipantThe answer is simple.
If you are a tinkerer, love rebuilding and reloading your operating system, don’t mind hackerish interfaces and command line level on your PC or Mac, then Android.
If you want something that simply works, iPhone.
Either will come with Mama phone company’s restrictions until you strip them, so unless you’re going to go and strip them or have an known Android app you want, K.I.S.S.
And Apple did K.I.S.S. very well with the iPhone.
Now, go by an iPhone, because I own stock.

ParticipantCAR, as you point out nobody agrees with the disability abuse, spiking etc. The problem, or perceived problem, is tat it appears the system is actually designed to support it. Cities like Costa Mesa have presumptive disability, where a wide range of conditions are automatically assumed to be caused by the job and the city would have to prove otherwise to deny the disability claim.
On spiking where it seems like the department management not only condones but assists in scheduling the spike.

ParticipantInvestments can suck.
Jobs get lost.
Cash flow dries up.
Debt however, always wants it’s due.

ParticipantThe information is available on the CalPers web site in the Comprehensive Financial Report. Page 150. Earlier appendixes have current age distribution of active members pre-retirement. Less than 10% of CHP are over 50.
Overall, CalPERS is running about 14.5% disability. Social Security runs about the same.
The chart you want is page 129.
3% at 55 Fire probability of disability.
Look at that flatline jump at retirement age…
(it’s so bad, I wonder if it’s a typo, but it’s not, it occurs over and over again)

ParticipantCD, it’s not really about the stupid employees. It’s about the handing of the employee’s stupidity and the reality of them being just like the scums in the private sector contrary to the meme of the dedicated sacrificing government worker.
It’s about the handling of the situations, lack of accountability, inability to discipline, a level of evidence needed to take disciplinary action and the failure of the government to pursue that evidence even though they have a high level of proof.
It’s about the perception that it has become so rampant that I feel like I’m reading about it on a daily basis.
Most public employees are good people, doing a good job, there is a subset that isn’t. There is a bizarre nothing to see here attitude, circle the wagons, code of silence that they protect the bad apples with the full clot of their unions.
It’s coming to an election season, we’re going to be bombarded with ads from the Teachers unon saying basically ‘protect the children’, sadly, I feel like I read an article every week with a teacher preying on children.

An update and question on county lack of action.
County didn’t test evidence in masturbation case
A co-worker discovered the employee and told investigators he suspected the man was masturbating.
“As JR approached, he heard what sounded like a woman’s moaning and music coming from the employee’s telephone, which he associated with pornographic movies,” the report states. “He saw employee and asked if he was OK.”
There was no explanation provided for why the top button of the man’s pants was unbuttoned.
Commissioner Krauel noted in her report that a nearby trash can contained paper towels with what may have been semen, but the material was never tested

ParticipantI’d kill the car loan.
They’re close so I’d head towards one less payment and less mandatory monthly cash flow in case of unfortunately employment circumstances.

Sweetwater School boardmember returns to work at Southwestern College after pleading not guilty to 8 felony corruption chargesWarehouse employee reinstated after pornography and masturbation accusation Apparently watching porn on a cell phone may be part of their duties.
“After conducting a hearing in May, Commissioner Francesca Krauel on Wednesday said she found the employee had watched about 90 seconds of pornography on a cell phone while at work but saw no proof he fondled himself.
Krauel said warehouse employees sometimes view pornography as part of their duties, which include storing property left by people who die without a will.
She added that the worker admitted his conduct was inappropriate but she thought the punishment was too extreme.”

ParticipantI prefer older versions of Auction Hunters. More informative without the BS.
Not to mention that Storage Wars seems to pay 5X what Auction Hunters pays for a locker.
There is another storage buying show on Tru TV saw it flipping channel one night with the toddler teething. Seems they pay less than 1/10th what the Storage Wars showboaters are paying.
