ParticipantProp 98 ends rent control, period, no grandfathring clause, nada. The same term prohibits the government from limiting what you can sell your property for, as loosely written, I wonder if that applies to the pre-agreed to purchase and government support program for low income housing. If so, it’s a crock. I wonder how it is applied to developers with LIH mandates.
Prop 98 is essentially, prop 13 for ED in it’s draconianess. Not surprising Jarvis is a sponsor.
99 is pathetic.
Together they represent what is wrong with the proposition process in California.
The misinformation was rampant.
Perhaps we should sell a few more billion dollars worth of bonds so we can have a $4/month reduction in our electric bills. That worked out great, I love paying an additional $10 a month to TTA (to pay for the bonds0 and getting my $4 mandated 10% reduction. Woohoo!! Let’s save some money!!!

ParticipantFrom the article at the very end: “My daughter especially is very unhappy. Sometimes she’ll cry, and she’ll call and say, ‘Mom, I just can’t stand it that you are living in a car,’ ” Harvey said. “I’ll say, ‘You know what? This is OK for right now, because I’m safe, I’m healthy, the dogs are doing OK, and I have a job, and things will get better.’ ”

ParticipantCase is speaking of the national aggregate market.
That is very different scenario than SD, OC, LA, and Miami.
