ParticipantWord problems in Math deal with context. Context such as:
100% OF THE INCREASE in price will be wiped out such that it will go back down to BASE price. If a price increased 170%, in order to go back to base price, you need to get rid of the 170% increase. That was the context meant by Powayseller.November 30, 2006 at 3:05 PM in reply to: Loved the house, hate the agent, do I have to use him? #40873Nancy_s soothsayer
ParticipantI tend to believe that once you punched button called “schedule an appt. to see this house” and provided your name, contact number, etc., they already got you logged as client IN WRITING. Your phone conversation with the agent could also have been recorded. I’m not sure, but could they come after you?

Participantlulu — Karma will get you.

ParticipantI read a blog somewhere (forgot where) wherein a blogger who obviously dislikes the current president wrote that the Bush family recently bought a HUGE ranch from a coca and beef producing South American country. I don’t think it is to produce a cash crop, but to capitalize on the current high value of the dollar compared to the foreign country’s currency. Well, the info, however, could just be pure rubbish.

ParticipantWithout being specific, I started buying lots of cheap fishpond lands in an Asian country. Proceeds from sale of fish gets plowed back to more fishpond land. When I retire, either I sell the developed land or go fishing a lot from my fishponds myself.

ParticipantAmen to that sdrealtor! SD should be very scared next year and following years. There will be a huge number of FB’s walking on the streets in San Diego. They will be your friends, or coworkers, or anyone you bump into at the malls (more of them at Wallmart.) Will these FB’s exhibit more anti-social behavior? Will they get pushed over the edge quite easily? Be very careful. There was a mania to go overboard with leveraged debt the past few years and everyone was delusional-happy. What’s the downside now that the mania is over?

ParticipantMaybe because Mish thinks the one-trillion-dollars-and more ARMS holders are going to file bankruptcy. Poof – there goes that huge wealth destruction and evaporation of delusional “equity” contained in those so-called “investments” by FB’s. Soon after, banks won’t lend anymore. Credit contraction equals liquidity trapped. That equivalent dollar amount destroyed is bigger than FCB holdings that would be liquidated. Result, deflation. Great Depression, part 2.
Even if Fed Funds Rate equals zero (ZIRP like in Japan), banks won’t borrow money from the Fed because banks won’t turn around and lend the money to multitudes of Americans foreclosed with destroyed FICO scores. Catch-22 like.
Maybe Bernanke and his tag-team Treasury partner (Mr. Paulson?) are going to China to convince the Chinese to start buying “houses” instead of “treasuries”. Remember the Japanese buying Pebble Beach and other over-inflated real estate during the heyday of Japan bubble? We will have Chinese landlords if they listen to them. All the available vacant houses unloaded by flippers will be one-by-one bought out by Chinese citizens as new investment fad so that house prices will be propped up and retain their inflated values forever. Proceeds from house sales to the Chinese would in turn be used by Americans to go to Walmart again to buy Chinese-made whitie-tighties. Problems solved. No bubble crashing. Now, that’s a crazy idea.
Sorry, I’m just rambling here. Ignore if you must.

Participantcardifbb, I know the feeling, I emphatize. Have a 21-year-old-only-child-son baby who went partying in L.A. a few months ago. He did 98 mph on 65-mph highway between San Diego and L.A. with his brand new Ford truck we just bought him with love. We wrote a check and paid close to $400 to solve his traffic problem for him. His punishment after a day of recriminations and emotional guilt-trips? More hugs and kisses for him for being an only child. We suck as parents, I guess. Ha-ha… That’s what loving and over-indulgent parents get, I guess.

ParticipantMeanwhile, back in Santee, year 2009, santeeman will be sorrounded by angry, ANGRY-FULL-OF-RAGE, people who got forclosed and suffered wealth destruction. Will they loot him? Nobody for sure, can tell. Sorry, I could not resist, also.

Participantsanteeman,
Except me, NOBODY in this site has claimed that they can 100% see what is going to happen next at specific times. They show nice charts, graphs, and visuals – sure, and then extrapolate from there – but none said “FOR SURE, my prediction will come true.” Powayseller, inspite or despite her bold predictions and popularity (or notoriety, it depends), AND WHO I AM SORELY MISSING NOW, does not even come close to claiming that crown and never admitted to being a psychic. Clairvoyance (sp?) belongs only to me and my crystal ball, buddy. HA-HAha. Sorry for you.
And just to humor the likes of me, please haphazard a startling bold prediction once in while. Even better, give me a prediction that would make me run under the bed. It makes reading so exciting, fun, and addicting. And if that kind of prediction comes true, well, just imagine me going spazzztic (is there such a word?)

ParticipantIf the count of houses, mobile homes, trailers, etc. is what you mean, yes. I was referring to the count of human heads. Hispanic families tend to have more members. More kids, more blessings, the merrier. More uncles and aunties and extended relatives living in the house, the cheaper the board & lodging costs, too.

ParticipantHa-ha. This town I mentioned is the “Riverside” of Texas state. Groucho Marx said, “Who are you going to believe? Me or your lying eyes?” Hint: my eyes and observations don’t lie. Like a flock of migratory birds seeking greener pastures, the extremely mobile immigrants, both illegals and legal, are seeking their own dreams in greener pastures, literally. As of today, the borders don’t have the equivalent of Great Wall of China yet.
The meat of my earlier post is: $365.00 per SF house in San Diego is a nightmare. And $70.00 per SF house in this Texas town is a dream that can easily turn to reality for sensible migrants. I agree with merlin’s post above that houses close to their actual cost value of construction will not drop 50%, unlike in San Diego. A dollar in Texas is same dollar in San Diego, but the dollar in Texas buys way a lot more.

ParticipantBefore the event, Jim the Realtor said, “I’m guessing they won’t sell one of them at the auction.”
Jim the Realtor is psychic. Way to go. I’m looking forward to his next prediction.

ParticipantPorkman, full of lard, please keep posting your anecdotes and observations here. Since you are the man rolling in the mud and trenches of foreclosures – (oink!) your observations would be very informative, methinks. I appreciate that you’ve joined the Piggington community. I’m sure you will feel at home here — with all pun intended.
