ParticipantLoquats, avacados and apples have been my favorites from our garden. We had a great harvest from our Zinfandel vine this year, and I made wine which is now aging. There are several great lettuces that do well over the cooler winter months. When you want a fresh salad, you just go clip some leaves off the plants.

2004 – 2.29 Trillion
2012 – 3.80 Trillion65.9% increase.
I’d love to go back to the spending levels of 2004!

I wonder what it would have looked like if only black men had voted?

ParticipantI wouldn’t know. I’m not licensed to hang light stringers on houses.

ParticipantI’m a lighting technician for the La Jolla Playhouse, and I have been thinking about going into this sort of business. I’d be happy to take a look at your place and make a proposal.

ParticipantSon of a B&%$#. Netflix doesn’t have “Prohibition” online yet!

ParticipantI’ll have to check that one out. There are several other Ken Burns documentaries on Netflix, and they are all very well done. I’m plugging through “The West” currently.

ParticipantI just buy the particular tap or die that I need in the moment from sears and then add it to my collection.

If you’ve got any other ideas to put more money in CA’s coffers besides imploring your congressperson to lobby their brethren ad infinitum for more funds to reimburse CA for the effects of illegal immigration (which has been done and is being done, with mixed results), I’m all ears :=]
Legalize (and tax) pot?

ParticipantI’d bet that car just got a $500 boost in value with the gas prices these days.

Participant

wow. This is just absurd. $535 is what probably half month rent for a lot of people… I mean you probably can afford this ticket, and so can I…I can’t imagine someone on minimum wage getting one of these….
Seriously, doesn’t it strike anyone that this is absurd? wow. state really needs money. $535 fine for a red light, which in itself is questionable tactic to ticket someone this way..
You know. It’s just wrong to assign a financial penalty to traffic offenses. If they were really interested in preventing this from happening, they would assign something like picking up trash for 100 hrs, in which it doesn’t matter if you could cough up the $500 or so….
People walk in Carmel Valley? WTF?
Driving is actually a privilege or hadn’t you heard?
I think $500 is getting off easy for running a red light. People get killed that way.
That’s bullshit… The red light camera can be off…way off. I’ve seen the ones in Carmel Valley in Del Mar Heights go off on the wrong time. Also, IF your car is at the shop and your mechanic blows through a red light, guess who ends up getting the ticket in the mail and who has the burden to prove it’s not you???
Bullshit right back at you.
The lights are not going off the wrong time, they are being calibrated at specific times. Just because a light went off does not necessarily mean that somebody is going to get a ticket.
And by the way, the camera clearly identifies both the vehicle and the driver. Have you ever seen one of those tickets? As for the specific intersection you are talking about, it is notorious with folks wanting to breeze through the red lights. Forget a $500 fine, I’d rather have death penalty for those who hurt somebody on that intersection. I almost got run over many times at that spot.
Typical carmel valley idiots, they want rules for others but cannot be bothered with little things like traffic rules themselves.
If you see a fellow walking across that intersection with his middle finger held high and gesturing to the drivers, you have just seen the dumbrenter. And an overwhelming number of those that intend to kill me at that intersection are either asian or female (or both). I can understand the ladies wanting a piece of me, but what have I ever done to the other group?
So slow the fk down at that intersection people. Where ever you plan to go and no matter how late you are to pick up your brat, it is not worth killing another human over. That red light is not a friendly suggestion. It is the law that requires you to stop so that a fellow like me can walk my ass to safety.
Participant

I think it’s time for a petition to ban them all together within the county. Perhaps one that bans any sort of automated law enforcement system to also include speed cameras.
Re: The safety “increase” from the cameras:
http://www.motorists.org/red-light-cameras/increase-accidents%5B/quote%5D
I personally find myself slamming on the break when approaching yellow, flooring the gas in the middle of the intersection, and slowing down on approach because the green seem to be overdue for a change to red. one second too late and you are looking at a $500 bill.
