ParticipantI lost all credibility for that guy when I called him back in 1999. I didn’t have a realtor and he pushed his dad on me. His dad did absolutely zero work. All of the homes we ended up looking at were ones that I found on the internet and when I would ask him pointed questions about whether the asking prices were a ‘good deal’ he had nothing. Wouldn’t run any comps, wouldn’t give any opinion, didn’t do any work except show up and let me into the places.
I laugh everytime I hear him on the radio–what a charlatan.

ParticipantCompany sponsered 401k’s can be a crap shoot if their investment offerings are limited.
I’m a conversative investor. I manage a self-employed 401k for myself and alot of my money is in US market index funds (e.g. s&p 500, wilshire 5000). Frankly, my US index funds have gotten battered this year. I’ve done much better in my non-us index type funds (SE asia and worldwide). You’ll have to weigh your options with your employer and see what you can find that is worthwhile.
Frankly, employer sponsered 401k’s these days suck. With 3-5 year vesting periods (who works for their employers that long in this market) you’ll end up forfeiting much of their match in most cases.

ParticipantCiti is bouncing along at just under $32.50 this morning after the market open.
CFC is bouncing along at just under $11.
Looks like those puts may work out for you…

ParticipantSeems to me that the first dozen dates are supposed to be about getting to know each other, which can be done sitting on a park bench, taking a walk or having coffee. If you are defining the success of the dates by how often or how deeply he digs into his wallet, you are most definitely a gold digger.
Any woman that tells me that I have to spend money on her to show her that I care is being shown the door. How about I bring you breakfast in bed? Hide silly greeting cards in your purse to surprise you? Care for you when you are sick? Seems that those types of behaviors are more of a display of love and romance than buying you an expensive dinner.
Most of the things that REALLY matter and show you care in a relationship are free or inexpensive.
