“how do you reconcile the far greater damage that would be done to those that already own homes with the benefit to those that wont buy?”
Could you elaborate? I may not be understanding your meaning, but I dont understand how powayseller’s attempts to inform people about a bubble will affect those that already own homes?
Do you mean that the few she saves from buying now, will be hurting someone who is trying to sell now?Do you think her sharing of information is going to cause the market to crash more severely than it would otherwise?
If so, then you would also be culpable since you are a bubble believer too. Furthermore, you are posting your opinions about it here, on a public blog, with your profession right there in your screen name. I think that alone would dissuade a person from buying more than the housewife in poway. Right?

You can check out the organization for yourself and decide.

Docteur-
Your predictions I think may be accurate for the individual homeowner who has a fixed loan, or who used the ARM as a tool but can weather greatly increasing payments.
However, what about the huge percentage who used the ARM because it was the only way to afford a house at all?
And what about the 40% last year alone that bought as investments – planning to turn them before the mortgage reset?
If the % of sales the last few years werent so high in the those two catagories (ARM’s and 2nd home/investment purchases) I wouldnt be so worried. it is the sheer number of them and the way those percentages climbed in the past very few years (from single digit percentages of total sales) that has me alarmed.
What do you think will happen with those two groups?

I agree that the results of the survey were reported on a liberal site – but the survey itself was conducted impartially.
And yes, I do think that politics should be based (in some measure) on what is most popular. Who does the government represent anyway??? The POPULAtion.
WE THE PEOPLE get to decide what is right and wrong. Not that small group over there that ‘thinks’ they know what is best.
I do, also, think that world opinion matters. “Getting along” globally matters. How could it not?

I noticed the small number of homes sold in 92067 (just 13!!!?). It is quite interesting since there are currently 277 properties listed for sale in that zip code right now on ziprealty. At this rate – how long will it take RSF to move that inventory? I started tracking listings there the first week of January (when we were still considering a move) – there were 180 in 92067 on 1/4/06. No matter how you slice it – there will be some heavy prices declines in RSF coming soon.
lostkittyParticipantNow THAT is an intresting link! Thank you nla…
The areas we were thinking of moving back to…
Coronado down 17.9%… WOW.
RSF down 13.7%
Solana Beach Del Mar and Carmel Valley still holding up yoy… cant wait to see next months numbers! Not sure what that RSF post office thing is – most everyone out there has to use the po boxes (or at least they did when we lived there).
Is this something different? Outlying areas just built? By the huge decline (45% or something) I am guessing it is new construction? Anyone know? Thanks in advance for your help.“Thanks for sharing that and participating in this forum. I invite you to consider my point of view…”

I have read the links provided by those who support the war, and I hope some of you will read this one regarding a recent PEW survey of world opinion towards US and other nations. It is a survey conducted annually (for many years running – not one thought of just to prove a certain group’s contemporary perspective):

Please read and comment – and I will continue to read your links as well.

So many people have written in (myself included) to say thanks for the site (Rich) and thanks for the threads (majority started by Powayseller). They mention that they have learned a lot. They’ve gained information they were not able to find elsewhere.
I have been a bubble-believer since 2000 – living in Coronado for the umpteeth time since childhood and seeing the prices having skyrocketed beyond affordability even for highly trained, highly educated families. A lot of people made a whole lot of money since then – so I felt foolish as I kept repeating my claims that real estate really can and eventually will fall – even in San Diego.
Recently my husband and i have been the only people we know saying the same about pensions… but here they go – disappearing even though so many people told us, “that’s ridiculous – they cant take away a person’s PENSION!”
Keep up the posts powayseller… You are accomplishing your goal of helping people. It is a noble goal – we all know you arent making any money doing this! I truly do not understand the persistent need to tell you that they “just dont like the way you say things” “extreme” “lunatic” etc. Blah blah blah. Keep up your posts.
lostkittyParticipantDocteur-
I was given that book ‘Illusions’ by a friend when living in Brazil in high school… (it is call ‘Illusaoes’ or something like that in Portuguese). Beautiful thoughts. thanks for reminding me of it – I think I will dig it out and re-read.
I am adding your suggested line to my posts – maybe it will help, because you are certainly right that all the back and forth is not good for the site or any of the individuals involved. I just didnt appreciate being told to “get a life” or being called any of the other myriad names he’s called me – and let him get under my skin.
Your thoughts on the subject are appreciated.

lostkittyParticipantsdrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr (growling) –
Dude, give it a rest…
Relax…
Kick back…
Chill out…
Watch the sunset…lostkittyParticipantsdr- I do not know powayseller other than from this site… I respond to your horrible attempts to quiet and discredit her because I like the threads that she starts adn i like all the research she does and shares with everyone here. I dont care WHY she does it all, I just enjoy reading and learning. I couldnt care less if anyone else steps forward to support her like I do or not – I speak up when I witness something that is wrong…. even if I stand alone.
The way you’ve treated her is atrocious. It is interesting that most of the people who come forward to support you are mysterious new “lurkers”. So either #1, you are making up new people, or #2, they were not around when you were making those weird threats to “tell everyone who she really is” after you got on-line, searched all the facts she gave about selling a house, and narrowed it down until you came up with the one you knew had to be her sale. You then attacked repeatedly with ridiculous, and erroneous, “facts” you unearthed. You looked like a creepy stalker then, and maybe these new “lurkers” were not around for that.
The rest of what you write I did not say either… I said I “love” a different poster for his politics (I think it was Farls) and I was KIDDING – lighten up, I said I got a skin infection on my BOOB from the water pollution in Coronado…
The only thing you got EXACTLY right was that I said you are an a$$#@le. Which you are. Volatile personality. No wonder you give fake email addresses when you sign up for blogs… dont want anyone tracking you down after you go around starting fights and attacking people on-line. BACK OFF!
lostkittyParticipantWelcome Kiki!
My husband and I left SD a few years ago. We missed the weather at first (I grew up there), but now do not, and enjoy the seasons, the scenery, the excellent schools for our kids, big houses, etc etc etc. We live much better than we could have in SD. No regrets.
June 14, 2006 at 10:41 AM in reply to: Foreign politics/policy discussions on this forum – a suggestion #26840lostkittyParticipantActually hs, I did write that… I wrote:
“Every thinking person got out (gross generalization).” I was talking about during the years after the first Gulf war. I qualified it with the “(gross generalization)”. I was so true though… Top fit reps got out. The airlines were hiring. 6 month deployments gruelling. The guys who stayed were those that couldnt get hired by the airlines. Past DUI’s, poor fit reps, etc. etc. etc…
lostkittyParticipantThank you so much for posting this link powayseller. I hope everyone watches it and we have a discussion. They covered the airline industry extensively – auto industry is next.
Probably no coincidence that we are suddenly clamping down on illegal immigration… we’ll be needing those jobs for grandma and grandpa soon.
35 YEARS that man worked for United Airlines. He held up his end of the bargain.
