why is it good to have impounds–why not let your money work for you instead of the lender?
is the rate on the loan better becasue they know the taxes, etc will be paid from the impounds, rather than relying on the responsible owner to do it?
thanks

jimjimcavParticipantyes, i am currently not good at knowing how to find/research such data. i could buy a house now at 700k, but it would absolutely leave me with no cushion or margin for anything unexpected. i was just looking at the cost to rent a 3br vs buy in the areas we like, and then looking at what a similar mortgage as rent would be assuming 10% down at least. was wonderig if i was far off, because it looked like under $400/sq ft would be required to put the home price in line with rents.
thanks

jimjimcavParticipantI’m fairly serious about cycling–18-25 miles one way is fine. i did it before–was TAD there–stayed at the admiral kidd (navy hotel at pt loma near nimitz). i rode all the way down harbor drive, through IB, up the silver strand to NAB. depending on where i rent, i may have to try that ferry.
