ParticipantI would guess that they will become involved in the handful of cases that pass a certain threshold. That threshold will likely, and hopefully, be high.
ParticipantCheck out the platinum account at Wamu, or even at USAA they have a high yield checking acct. These both pay 5-5.25% right now. I don’t see USAA going under anytime soon.

ParticipantThe difference now as opposed to last year is that many of the people who will be duped by this irresponsible journalism and decide that ‘now is the time to buy’ will be turned away at the bank. Thankfully, new lending standards are making the market more idiot proof every day. Those who make it through the cracks will just provide more fuel for this fire to continue burning 3, 5, even 7 years from now.

ParticipantHaha, that’s great! They don’t even have a process built into the ‘system’ because who ever leaves CA, right. We also rather enjoyed the trip to the local DMV here in Iowa. No line, they handed the kids candy, the people working there were really happy, and we were in and out in 10 minutes.

ParticipantBy the way, so long as you have a valid CA licence, you can log into the online system and do a change of address. Do this before you surrender your licence out of state! It would have saved me all of this trouble. Also, in my above situation, when I say that they cancelled my licence, but not the wife’s, that is because requested they cancel both licences, not a punishment imposed or anything like that. I had a new out of state licence and just wanted to simply cancel my CA one…
