ParticipantThe beige carpet gets dirty easily, especially with two young children. I have to clean (spot treat, vacuum, steam clean, and dry) it about once a month or it looks embarrassing. This is not a fun or quick process and it seems the carpet gets dirtier and dirtier with time.
Ripping up the carpets and installing wood floors would be a pain, but it is almost worth it considering how often I have to clean the carpets. Besides, I also have a good friend who is very handy and is willing to help me install the flooring for free.
I don’t bug the owners about small stuff. We’ve made a number of minor improvements over the years to the landscaping with plants, grass, installing sprinklers, painting the exterior, etc. and I only charge them for parts.
When we first moved in SDGE said they wouldn’t light the pilot to the original heating unit because they said it was a fire hazard. The original water heater sprung a leak and needed to be replaced and there was a hot water line leak that they had to bipass.

ParticipantI don’t take anything I read or hear for gospel. The Creature from Jekyll Island does have heavy conspiratorial leanings in areas. And G. Edward Griffin is not a financial expert. What I take from reading the book is it’s one man’s take on some complicated yet important stuff, like the Fed, fractional reserve banking, etc.
Some of these topics are enough to give most people headaches. Maybe that’s part of the strategy. Let the experts take care of things and just hang on for the ride. Griffin’s book is more for the layperson to understand these topics – through the author’s perspective. Like all things, read it with a jaundiced eye.

ParticipantA primary election is still an election. The tea party movement is growing, not shrinking, and those on either side are worried, quite frankly. Otherwise they would just ignore them. It’s like that old Gandhi saying.
What’s so radical about wanting to curb government spending, lower taxes, or have a balanced budget? I know, I know, the “mainstream” Republicans and Democrats have been doing such a fine job of running our country into the ground. We wouldn’t want any of those kooky, “radical” outsiders to come in and fix things now would we?

ParticipantAnd yet tea party candidates, by and large, somehow seem to keep winning in the elections. Perhaps this a referendum that both major political parties are on notice?
I can’t help but chuckle at your slanderous statements about Rand Paul. You do realize that your credibility rating on this forum is pretty much a big fat “0” when you make such false statements, don’t you?
