The Intelligent Design effort is a product of Christian Fundamentalists (funded by the Discovery Institute, right-wing think-tank) and is a direct, coincident response to recent U.S. court order prohibiting the teaching of Creationism vs. Evolution in public school SCIENCE class — on the grounds that it violated the Establishment Clause of the Constitution.
Science? Religion. Go figure.
