ParticipantI don’t think anyone can say in two, or five, or 12 months. It will proceed relatively slowly but apace. The market events of the recent past should please the majority of people on this board.

ParticipantI think your coworker has an opinion not based on the available data (reality). The supply of homes is way up, the sales volume is way down. Did I mention prices have fallen about 5-10%? Your coworker is like many current sellers (in denial of basic market forces). Time will tell who is right.

ParticipantWow, I can really relate to this thread. I was born in Santa Monica and grew up there. San Diego has the weather but also has high home prices including crap homes for $500K. It is the shallowness of the culture that I really dislike. If you are totally focused on weather, how much money you have, or how lazy your day can be, yeah San Diego is tops. There are many places on earth where I greatly prefer the culture.

Participantkaycee,
I understand you had to do what you had to do. But one possible downside is if prices fall significantly over the next two years the buyers will have strong motivation to “renegotiate” before closing. I think what would give me pause is the two year timeframe. You just don’t know what’s going to happen. Giving them two years to sell their house seems beyond reasonable.eyePod

ParticipantJES,
Great post! Where do you work if I may ask? I see most folks simply don’t believe you. I have noticed for some time the pro-SoCal sentiment on this board. This idea of SoCal being such a wonderful place is really an anachronism in many ways.eyePod
