HEY cmCg I’ve been here since ’53 and I remember Johnny Downs dancing on the Golden Arrow bottle; then he would say “join the thousands all over San Diego county who have CHANGED to Golden Arrow”. Channel 10 everyday after school. I also remember the two lane road (CMB) from Clairemont to Kearney Mesa out to Convair (later General Dynamics) where everything was red dirt – no buildings. Cows grazing on farms in Clairemont, Mission Bay was like a pristine preserve, The “Quad” and the “Square” in Clairemont displayed bomb shelters, Kings Drive-In, I could go on and on…July 31, 2007 at 8:49 PM #69139eccen in esc

ParticipantLOL I really like the San Yskidrow one. Here are some from North County (from west to east): Oceanslime, San Mucus, Escondildo, and Rancho Barfado.

ParticipantOK, this is all very funny…. I just have to point out
Santee has about 2 horses, and there ARE NO COWS…….so if you think that you will find it a mecca for cowboys, you have not been here for AT LEAST 30 years……and
The Klantee comment is not funny……

ParticipantI remember Johnny Downs also. I was very young but I seem to remember going to see him at the outdoor theater in Balboa Park in a production of “The Wizard of Oz”. Am I remembering correctly?
Also, how old do you have to be to remember playing on the big dinosaur in the sand box at Mission Valley Center?

Participantesc and citydweller —
Johnny Downs lived “out in the sticks” — Lemon Grove!
I also remember playing on the dinosaur in MV and there used to be an ice skating rink in what was called “Mission Valley Center West.”
Okay, one last trip down memory lane for me: Anybody else remember cramming as many people in the car as you could (back in the days before mandatory seat belts) so you could get the two-bucks-per-car rate at the Tu-Vu?

It’s not funny, it’s not a joke, and it’s not true!
I am NOT racist, there are BLACK people in Santee. I don’t
associate with racists, and people here are no more RACIST
than anyplace else. YOU obviously DON’T come here, and
FALLBROOK is where the guy that runs the “CLAN” out here
lives. Santee is middleclass/uppermiddle class and
suburban.
