ParticipantI understand this as making mortgage interest non-deductible as far as state tax is concerned. California can’t possibly eliminate federal interest deduction, it’s out of their jurisdiction.

ParticipantI wonder what esmith considers a racist… I don’t think he realizes all of the assumptions in the comment he posted.
It’s racist and I take serious offense. These kids are human beings, they are no different than your own kids with the exception of being less fortunate.
OMG, so much flame out of my single statement.
Marion, by the time kids get to the middle school, they are sufficiently different. They are influenced by their upbringing and some kinds of influence are better than others. As much as I respect illegal aliens’ willingness to work dead-end jobs for less than minimum wage to support their families, I don’t see them as good influence on their children.
I would be as concerned with my kids going to a school that’ s 50% chinese. Last I checked, there weren’t any chinese ghettos in CA. But I wouldn’t want my kids to grow up in Chula Vista any more than I’d want my kids to grow up among all-white trailer trash in Kearny Mesa.
Hope it helps.

ParticipantI’m assuming that it’s not THE Case-Shiller algorithm, as that must be proprietary stuff,
Here’s a good description of their algorithm. It’s missing some implementation details but it’s almost complete.
http://www2.standardandpoors.com/spf/pdf/index/SPCS_MetroArea_HomePrices_Methodology.pdf
if I buy a crummy little house in bird rock, for a million, tear it down and build a much bigger house and sell it for two million, will Case Shiller report a 100% price increase on this house?
They exclude houses with substantial physical changes if they can detect them in deed records. They also try to detect “unusual” price changes and either exclude them or assign lower weights to them.

Participantbar contraception from people
to be exact, he wants to bar government from spending money on birth control / population control programs, including contraception. Does he want to ban contraception entirely? Not sure.

he does want to do away wtih unions
within the last 12 months, he voted “no” on at least two trade union bills, H.R. 980 (Public Safety Employer-Employee Cooperation Act of 2007), and H.R. 800 (Employee Free Choice Act of 2007).
