ParticipantOh my head is spinning.
[1] They discovered a $10MM “error” in their budget – so the budget deficit is now $56.7MM
http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2011/feb/08/ooops-mistake-means-higher-sd-deficit/(what kind of frigging show they are running there that they make $10MM error?)
[2] City council offloads Petco park debt to redevelopment agency – Will save $11.3MM from 2014
http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2011/feb/08/san-diego-council-offloads-petco-park-debt/
(Jerry S. very sad that this will probably interfere with his grand plan to bring us a Charger’s Stadium come hell of high water! But alas, Jerry B. is threatening to take away his redevelopment slush fund!)
[3] City is hell bent on spending redevlopment money by hook or crook. (We will waste it here but won’t give a cent to Jerry Brown!) So they are going to spend $29MM on beautifying the Ebarcadero
http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2011/feb/08/ccdc-act-296-million-embarcadero/
(Hey city council, can you please find a loophole to spend it on fixing Mira Mesa Blvd. and calling it redevelopment somehow please?)
[4] Apparently the next item is to transfer covention center debt to CCDC and save another $13MM to general fund.
[5] Mayor and city council keeps on talking about building libraries, stadium, city hall, convention center etc. etc. even though they can’t fix our roads.
We live in a truly messed up system here!

http://www.ritholtz.com/blog/2011/02/how-u-s-income-groups-get-squeezed-by-food-prices/From the blog –
In the U.S. the average annual income for the consumer units (households) measured is $62,857, where food expenditures consume a little over 10 percent of income .
But averages distort the true picture of what is really going on as only 15 percent of consumer units fit into this income group. Many have drowned in pools of water where the average depth is only 11 inches deep. Almost one third of the households in the U.S. spend close to or more than 20 percent of their annual income on food.

Are you out of INTC now? Bashing the stock you own does not sound like a smart strategy to me 🙂
