CostaMesaParticipant
I have three pairs of US made NBs, a pair of US made Allen Edmonds dress shoes and quite a few belts that were made here in America – all purchased in the last few years.
The tiny few of us still working in manufacturing tend to feel pretty strongly about the degree of patriotism shown by purchasing products made domestically by companies that haven’t been destroyed by the MBAs yet.

CostaMesaParticipantThat’s right. The reason there are almost no 2008 small diesels in the USA can be explained by a grand conspiracy by the months-old Obama administration to prevent good and decent American citizens from having what Big Oil is most afraid of: fuel efficiency. [rolling eyes]
Have y’all ever spoken with someone from a car company? IF they could stop blaming the unions for all of their problems, they’d start blaming the government. Oh wait, they’re doing that now too. Never once will anyone hear a carmaker take responsibility for failing to bring cars to America that we need.

CostaMesaParticipantWho knew that piggs could get this aggro about bikes? I thought it was just politics that brought out the worst in people.
Anyway, I’ve let a lot of people take the driving test on my ’93 XR250L. Anyone tall enough to handle the bike has appreciated how nimble it is when they’ve got to do those loopy things.
I think my ultimate recommendation for a fun cruiser is an ’83 Honda Nighthawk S. Plenty of power, and a raked out front end that’ll keep new guys shiny side up a lot longer.
One other thing. Helmet fit is more important than anything. If there’s a pressure point, guess what happens under 50 G’s. Not good.
Sometimes I think that new bikers should get a tour of an ortho ward – because the chance they’ll be there is significant. Probably best not to ride if you don’t have good health insurance.
