Meh, I’m still leery of tech right now….
I think I will sit out any more sort of speculation beyond what I already have in the markets… neither short nor long…..FLU’s new rule for thyself… Never enter the markets one way or the before the 2-3 weeks before of tech earnings report…..Too much unpredictability..Man, am I really getting old….I actually value things that are “safer” these days…..
Dow/Nasdaq closes up 162 and 52 respectively…
Google down 2.7% AH on earnings miss
IBM down 4% AH
BAC down 1.6% today (though not tech)
CoronitaParticipantLol. I got you guys beat….
If I rip a pair of pants on the kneecap, I cut them legs off and they become my work/gardening shorts.
My old socks make great polishing pads..
I hate buying clothes.
I think I have 2 suits……And it’s the same suit for the past 10+ years…
FLU… Just damn cheap….
CoronitaParticipantRun, don’t walk out of the deal..
CoronitaParticipantgreat job!. I’m happy to hear your kid likes engineering…
We need more kids like this in this country.
CoronitaParticipant

If I were gay, I’d know nothing about women… But I’d have lots of fag hag friends.
Based on what I’ve read, what you “know” about women is similar to the stereotypes I used to hear bandied about at my parents cocktail parties in the 70s. Maybe you’re in your 80s, but not gay.
Maybe he read this book? I sure did
“Everything Men Know about Women”
(The pages are blank btw)

Wow. What a shithole day to cap off a shithole week…
Not that it was really a surprise….
Next week should be fun… Volatility that is…..
Why complain? You griped when asset prices bubbled up, shouldn’t you be rootin’ for a leg down?
It’s not a complaint. It’s an observation….
I’m fine either way, up or down…

CoronitaParticipant
May be time to exit the market and get into cash.
Looks like smart money is pulling out of the markets a bit. Tech looks to be getting hammered. Other things, not so much…
CoronitaParticipantI don’t think it’s specific to social media. Looks like everything is getting crushed today. Biotech specifically today.
Glad I’m in indexes, cash , consumer staples, some boring stocks, and more real estate at this point….

3. I’ve been holding onto Corning, though it hasn’t really gone up that much. Mainly because of gorilla glass.
Did you buy the right corning stock?
GLW is up close to 20% since the first of the year. Up close to 50% YoY <-Makers of Gorilla Glass OC is up marginally <-makes fiber glass.
GLW. yes... I consider it "ok" return...
CoronitaParticipant
I’m glad I don’t live in CV. If I did I could have this psychopath for a neighbor. Do you think property values around her house just went down?
No, because technically she doesn’t live in CV.. She lost the home because the other person with more money outbid her, remember? 🙂
By making housing expensive, we weed out most of the rift-rafts… 🙂 (end sarcasm)
CoronitaParticipantTwo stocks I bought recently (one before earnings)…
1. Altria (MO)..
I bought them for a dividend play (5.1%).
It’s pretty boring. Goes between $36-38/share… Which is good. I like stability..2. Alcoa (AA)..
I don’t know, but I think demand for aluminum will increase in the future, as more manufacturing emphasize lighter weight alloy for weight savings. Specifically in the auto industry…Aluminum was once reserved for the high end cars..But I think we’re seeing a gradual shift to mainstream (example: upcoming Ford F-150).3. I’ve been holding onto Corning, though it hasn’t really gone up that much. Mainly because of gorilla glass.
