CoronitaParticipantI guess if i don't use this, I'm going to do a double or nothing and put it all into shorting LEH after tuesday.
Please say you didn't.
It's not "after tuesday" yet π Still considering. I'll probably wait a few days to see if we continue to a have a pop in the market. LEH had interesting "earnings". And no I'm not a pro. But, it might as well be easy come, easy go π
Some trivial facts to make light of the situation.
The irony of this deal I thought was interesting….
….JPM acquires Bear Stearns for $250 million…..
….In other news, AOL acquires Web 2.0 company Bebo for $850 million.
If that's not kicking someone in the groin, I don't know what is.
(Yeah yeah, I know. JPM is assuming a lot of doggy debt. But I just found that to be pretty ironic).
Screw Yahoo, Microsoft should just take over the banking industry.Β

March 18, 2008 at 11:17 PM in reply to: HELP! Landlord asking if we want to buy our rental as “short sale” #172793
CoronitaParticipantDear Landlord,
Thank you for your offer. Unfortunately, I have heard from Piggington that it is far more difficult to purchase a home that is a Short Sale than a home that is in Foreclosure, so I think I will just wait at this point.
Thank you,
Renter.
P.S. please let me know when you stop making loan payments so that I can stop paying you rent.
P.P.S. Feel free to remove all appliances and decorations that I designate as ugly and unfit for my tastes to resell on Craigslist. Please, though leave all plumbing, electricity, and drainage alone, and don't touch my personal stuff please. If you feel a need to urinate, please do so at the expense of your own place of residence.

CoronitaParticipantflu, you do fit the stereotype, you bitch about other Chinese. You live in CV and from the sound of it you work in IT. How is that not a stereotype?
Lots of people need 6k square foot houses, for instance the Chargers (if the whole team lived together.) The Mormon tabernacle choir comes to mind. People with a grandiose sense of self worth, who don't mind denuding the planet of resources for a sense of place.
Josh
Sigh. That hurts πΒ

CoronitaParticipantI should add.
You obviously spent a lot of time saving/investing wisely. There are a couple of reasons why I stopped trying to do things "myself". Time, and knowledge.
There are three things I say one should never skimp on:
1) Legal advice
2) Insurance (particularly liability/umbrella).
3) Medical advice.
As such, my grandpa (who was a politician) always reminded me to have three friends or relatives: a lawyer, a banker/investment advisor, a doctor. (I'm 1 for 3 right now).
