CoronitaParticipant

The easiest way to get China to step in and actually do something?
What would they want to do something?
There’s no outcome that benefits China. Status quo is their best alternative.
Putting a bunch of missiles off the coast of China would not make China very happy. It would be the equivalent of Russia putting missiles in Cuba. We know how that turned out.
This is a big game of chess. Nothing is going to happen. Plenty of moves each player can play.
It’s just people aren’t using to playing this game…for a long time…
CoronitaParticipant
All this talk is just posturing. By both sides. What will Kim do next if he indeed bombs US interests? Invade?
He will be opening a large can of whoop azz on himself not only by the US, but China and SKorea possibly even be invaded by Russia.
Didn’t you see the remake of Red Dawn? Lol.
The easiest way to get China to step in and actually do something ? Suggest arming Taiwan and Japan more.

Yes, but frankly I have too much cash on hand right now. I’d rather reduce my operating costs to keep a house that generates no income even lower.

Ok, I’ll try calling again. But I already did twice.
I’m thinking that calling isn’t what’s necessary. Find the actual document, the MR Bond. Read the language in the bond and find out if there is anything that prohibits early pay-off. That document is binding. Not what someone on the phone says. The servicing agent is (probably) not a party to the contract.
Gotcha
Try this guy: Bob Quaid at Willdan Financial Services.
He was responsible for spelling out and collecting special school fees before I could pull my permit. I doubt he is the right guy, but suspect he could direct you to the right place.
Thanks! I’ll try that too. Maybe the bond rate is low, so this probably won’t be an issue. Still, beats leaving cash in a <1% CD.

CoronitaParticipant

You cannot pay off the MR most houses in Carmel V have (at least the MR of San Diegito, and DMUSD). I tried to call to do that, but they don’t allow for that.
This doesn’t sound right. MR are special assessment bonds, meaning there is a legal document to back up the assessment. There could be pre-payment penalties, or possibly zero economic advantage, but “cannot pay off” is contrary to every bond document I’ve ever seen. (there are non-callable bonds, if they’re paid off early, they have to continue paying interest anyway.)
It is possible that the bond servicer has a strong motivation to discourage payoffs. I found this link that appears to guide a homeowner in finding the actual bond documents.

CoronitaParticipant“Vijay Jojo Chokal-Ingam, older brother of actress Mindy Kaling, committed racial fraud to get into medical school. Yet he did not admit his crimes until after the statute of limitations had long expired. Now Chokal-Ingam is going full frontal with his book Almost Black: The True Story of How I Got into Medical School by Pretending to Be Black.
17 years ago, Chokal-Ingam was a slacker and party animal who barely scraped by in college with a pitifully low 3.1 GPA. Yet like any Indian kid, becoming a doctor was his do-or-die dream. In between fun and games, Chokal-Ingam somehow reached the conclusion that affirmative action was his golden ticket to getting into medical school.
In Almost Black, Chokal-Ingam tells the story of how he scammed his way into medical school by exploiting affirmative action. He shaved his head, trimmed his long Indian eyelashes, embraced his black-sounding middle name Jojo, joined the Organization of Black Students, and checked the box marked “BLACK” on his med school applications. To his immense gratification, Chokal-Ingam hoodwinked 11 American medical schools into interviewing him and miraculously got waitlisted at the country’s third and fourth best medical schools.
While Chokal-Ingam obviously benefited from pretending to be black, he also experienced the trials and tribulations of being an African American. Fellow students ran away from him, cops harassed him, and store clerks accused him of shoplifting. The 22-year-old frat boy never expected that his college prank would turn into a social experiment that unveils harsh realities about racism in this country.
“I lied about my race to get into medical school,” said Vijay Jojo Chokal-Ingam. “But if you deny that affirmative action is racism, then you are a bigger liar than I will ever be.”
CoronitaParticipantMillennial, you incorrectly assumed I was getting on a high horse, by getting on a high horse yourself. And then you went off on the deep end.
Brian has a habit of posting extreme left leaning gibberish about how everyone else “should” solve social problems. I was merely asking when he was doing towards contributing to that. I don’t give a rats ass how much I am or am not helping. because it was never my soapbox to suggest we “should go out of our way for the greater social good” to do anything like this…nor was I suggesting anything I do makes a difference. My only point is if people (like brian really feel this is problem that needs to be solved), there’s little things he could do that would be constructive than taking opportunity away from other people, which is basically what a failed biased system like affirmative action does. If you read more into that, that’s your choice and you’re entitled to your opinion. I don’t give a hoot.
CoronitaParticipantWhatever. If you progressives want to (incorrectly) label me as being narrow minded or whatever simply because I am against institutional discrimination (affirmative action), so be it. I guess given that we have the biggest bigot in office, I can’t be worse than our presidential role model for the next 4 years. Maybe even 8, if you progressives keep it up… Then everyone loses!!!! Yee haw!!!!!
CoronitaParticipant

The irony. Look in the mirror dude. You are part of the problem.
No people like you are the problem. You use rationale like “I help kids at my son’s school” as support to an argument. Give me a break. Finally you agreed that the only reason is for ME, ME, ME. I think that’s where we differ in opinion. This is not a Trump thing, or left or right thing, it’s a selfish thing. Maybe it’s a difference in culture, or the way we were brought up. It’s OK, there are many many more people that feel and act the way you do.
Whatever dude. Like I said, enjoy the next 4 years. Congratulations on contributing to it. Things don’t happen out of the blue. And, so long as you guys make your position a zero game for someone that doesn’t fit your protected class, this sort of backlash will continue. Beyond just 4 years.
The problem is people like you polarize the issue completely your way or no way. In your mind and Brian’s mind, if you don’t embrace the all encompassing far left doctrine of everything that comes out of the progressive camp, you must be a a trumptard.
Well guess what? That puts people into choosing between picking the lesser of two evils in their particular situation. You far left progressives are going to cost the election for all the folks in the middle, because you ignore all the people that would be willing to compromise, because for you..it’s all or nothing. You don’t think it’s a big deal because you don’t mind others getting screwed over as long as it doesn’t affect you. Fairness? Who needs that!
And conveniently absent. Brian after turning yet another thread into a progressive very everyone else slapfest.
All talk, no action. And if math and science and education is so easy as you state, clearly there’s no need for affirmative action make up for the differences. Maybe just maybe there aren’t people as smart and capable as you that think everything is so easy.
BtW. Affirmative action is illegal in CA. As it should be. Imagine that the most liberal state, and it’s illegal.
But I have to admit, running into people like you talk about affirmative action does make me slightly less tolerant each time. Which is why up until recently I tried to ignore this thread. Again, and you are surprised middle America chose Trump?

We’ve had some pretty heated debates on this site for years.
But you are certainly the first person to insult someone else’s mother.
L O fucking L
Not an insult, just called her ignorant.
First time in a long time that I needed to tell an adult how to behave properly and explain why it’s not right to throw labels at other people. Regardless how they thought.

Just trying to help you. If you don’t believe me, why don’t you try and run outside and call every non-pc name in the book. After they say they don’t like it. Go ahead and tell them the meaning and proceed to call them it again. Let me know how it goes. I can’t believe there are people like you in this world still.
Help??? Is that what you call it? Seriously?
Hasn’t it occur to you some older people are oblivious? I guess you missed my point above between being ignorant offensive versus being subtle and intentionally offensive…
CoronitaParticipant
Yes exactly I’m judging you and Harvey. When someone misuses the term “oriental” I inform them. When someone does it purposely then I call them out. I hope you would do the same for your kids too.
The reason I call you out is because of statements like this.
“Like I said. If you really care about the disadvantaged, you would stop talking theory, and start volunteering. But I am guessing like many that talk about affirmative action and the disadvantaged, very few actual bother to lift a finger to do the real things that would make a difference.”
In this quote it makes you sound like you are assuming that no one volunteers because they don’t agree with your thoughts regarding affirmative action. It also makes you sound like you volunteering time in your son’s classroom somehow validates your credentials and your points.
He was being a fvcking smart ass. Are you really making a big deal out of this? Sheesh.
No, I was not assuming no one volunteers. that was your ASS-umption.
I was INSISTING * BRIAN * doesn’t do shit, despite his high chair far left progressive left bullshit that keeps coming out of his mouth…..specifically when it comes to “disadvantaged children”..Notice, brian is dead quiet about this…. He’s going to go into hiding now, because he knows I just called him out on his bullshit. And he hasn’t done shit to help out disadvantaged people ,despite his progressive “higher level of understanding and sympathy”…..
(Still waiting for a response brian…)
Unfortunately, you misread that, and/or you just sided with whatever you wanted to believe in. And then you went off on your high horse about certain people being narrow minded and harvey being a racist.
The irony. Look in the mirror dude. You are part of the problem.
Truthfully, unlike brian, I’m not saying I go out of my way to help disadvantaged children. The only reason why I do it is because (1) it benefits my kid the most and (2) it benefits some of my kid’s friends who happen to not be all from the same background. He and YOU are the one that keeps bring up how we need to help disadvantaged children. I haven’t asked YOU what you have done (I don’t care).. Again, what have you done Brian to do what you preach?
(Cricket’s chirping…)
CoronitaParticipant

Ignorant people will use the term “oriental” instead of “Asian” because they don’t know any better, like your mom or maybe someone that lives in the South, or Midwest.
Three words:
Over sensitive millennial.
I guess I’m just narrow minded…Lol.
I must be a trump lover…. If I don’t agree with affirmative action, I must love trump. and be narrow minded.
Again, and people wonder why trump won? No room for moderation. No room for the middle. It’s not just the press. It’s people. Every single person on this thread is responsible for the shit we are in.
You ignore people’s grievances, whether it’s some white rural guy in nowhere america, or some asian american that feels screwed over by ridiculous affirmative action…one day things blow up.. and what you are left with is something on the alt-other side…..
