Participant
Can you imagine what a woman would go through trying to be a Presidential candidate if they had 5 children with 3 different fathers, and began relationships with the 2nd and 3rd husbands before they were even separated from the previous spouse?
But it’s ok when a man does it. Apparently even for some women, it’s nowhere near as bad as being married to a man who has had affairs. Is that like Stockholm syndrome or something? Or just general disrespect for women.
In reference to DJT, you must be referring to him cheating on Ivana with Marla Maples. When Ivana walked away from that marriage/business partnership (which SHE helped build), she was left a multi-millionaire and set for life.
Maples and DJT were only married for +/- 4 years (from ’93 to ’97, when they legally separated). He did not meet Melania until 1998, did not date her until 1999 and did not marry her until 2005. She became a permanent resident of the US on her own in 2001 and a citizen in 2006 (after she married Donald).

You must be getting confused due to Bill’s dozens of trysts highly publicized in the MSM during fully half of our lifetimes. I know . . . it happens.

ParticipantA number of owners of large agricultural acreages in CA’s Central Valley have been paid by the Federal gubment NOT to grow anything or conduct any ranching activities on their land in the past 15 years or so. One only has to drive up I-5 from Bakersfield (as well as along the lower SR-99) to see this phenomenon in person.

Participant
Why do we care about supporting strawberry famers or other agri business in California anyway? All they do is hire foreigners to work for them. The owners profit and taxpayers foot the bill to subsidize their illegal workers.
How about a crazy idea.. why don’t we just import the strawberries from mexico? that way the Mexican workers can get jobs in their own country. Sounds like a win/win
We already do that, deadzone. As well as grow strawberries in CA. There was a food poisoning scare from MX strawberries grown around Mexicali, I think, over 10 years ago but that only resulted in a MX strawberry boycott by the US for the rest of that season and maybe one more year, IIRC.

Participant
IMO Obamacare is going to get crushed by the media as soon as Obama leaves office. All the warts and pimples will finally get exposed. We were all sold a pack of lies.
Umm . . . yeah! I have been trying to tell this story for months here on the forum. Thanks for bringing this topic back front and center in these critical weeks, LJ Renter!Open enrollment for obamacare starts on 10/15 in CA (11/1 in some other states). I’ve already reviewed the Covered CA rate hikes for 2017 and their plans are going up 13% (on avg). My carrier, BSoC (the ONLY INDIVIDUAL PPO above Bronze level offered in SD County), is raising rates 19% (on avg) and ~30% in my age group for 2017. Are we surprised? See:
http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-covered-california-rates-20160718-snap-story.html
https://www.coveredca.com/news/PDFs/CoveredCA-2017-rate-booklet.pdf
My 2016 rate is already nearly 295% of my 2013 rate (prior to the inception of the ACA). I took out my 2013 PPO plan in 2004 and was medically vetted for it at the time. My carrier left the state at the end of 2013, forcing me onto the (hopelessly incompetent) state exchange. Since then, I have lost two of my eight longtime providers to retirement and two more who dropped out of my plan mid-year 2016. I just replaced one with a new provider and scheduled a preventative care appt for late October. She was one of just THREE providers available to me within 15 miles of my Chula Vista residence! (There are likely 400-500 providers within 15 miles of my residence in this specialty!)
The above dates are BEFORE election day and the poor slobs who have been forced into buying a plan from our state exchanges (myself incl) are going to be none too happy . . . ESPecially the 55-64 year-old set!

Participant
What say I? I say both Donald and Hillary are overweight. Donald looks 300 lbs to me. I don’t think he can see his penis. Hillary looks 170 or 180. Hillary looks like a chubby 5´7 guy who should be 140 max
But my comments about health of public figures from a distance is not the same as being cruel to a young lady 19 years of age. Trump treated Machado like property. I’m sorry the female Trump supporters don’t see that, or are willing to overlook it.
Trumps treats everyone like property and he’s devoid of compassion.
I ran across this video this morning. Apparently, none other than that liberal MSM bastion known as CNN dug it up out of their “archives:”
Not only is Trump telling Machado that he thought she was the most beautiful Miss Universe candidate PRIOR to when he purchased the pageant, he also provided her a second gym membership and personal trainer close to her home and told her that she was still beautiful. She laughed and invited him to work out with her any time after he acknowledged that he doesn’t work out much and had a tendency to eat too much during stressful times as she did. He even joked with the press who was present that some of them could lose a few lbs and they all laughed.
Trump also agreed with her trainer that she didn’t look as good at 117-118 (when she entered the contest) and she would at 125-130 (she is bigger-boned) and so that range would be her goal. She was successful in losing ~60 lbs in just a few (4-5) months with Trump’s financial help and completed her contract with the crowning of the next Miss Universe.
She’s now claiming that Trump hurt her emotionally and caused her to later have an “eating disorder.” (She was an adult at the time he assisted her with her weight loss for the sole purpose of her being successful in fulfilling the rest of her contract.)
Nearly 20 years later, Machado is now acting like an immature whiner and a victim. After viewing this video, I am convinced that the Clinton campaign PAID HER HANDSOMELY to say those things about Trump (“racist/mysoginist”) after it googled statements in the past he’s said to women and dug her up out of nowhere. It’s as transparent as a pane of glass.
This type of smearing by “Clinton operatives” is a two-way street and a HUGE distraction to the actual issues in this election. Good L@rd, there is enough Bill & Hill sex, drugs and rock-n-roll (as well as murder allegations) fodder out in the airwaves to create two entire college courses, each one semester long, replete with midterms and final exams! And that’s not even counting digging up all of their old cabinet members, Secret Service officers assigned to them (yes, the Clinton presidency of the ’90’s was actually THEM, NOT HIM), White House personnel assigned to them, “semi-estranged” family members of both as well as Bill’s several dozen so-called erupted “bimbos.”
I would venture that over 75% of these people are still alive and kicking and the vast majority of them would no doubt be beyond pleased to be asked to tell it like it was to any MSM outlet that the Trump campaign can sell the interview to, lol.
“What’s good for the goose is good for the gander” applies to politics as well :=0

Participant
Errr… Trump is more than 25 pounds overweight.
The point is that women are held to a higher standard of beauty than men. It takes women so much longer to prepare to go out.
BG, as a woman, if you don’t see the hyprocrisy in Trump, then you deserve him.
BTW, you just wrote a long paragraph criticizing Hillary’s looks and you pretty much gave a Trump a pass.I haven’t read the miss universe contract. But im guessing that it requires that miss universe represents the organization in a professional manner. If Trump believes that weight gain is unprofessional and a problem then he’s free to argue that.
Machado says that Trump was mean and cruel to her. Trump does not not deny he called her miss piggy and miss housekeeping.
I saw the recent Dr. OZ video where he (apparently) read (from Trump’s recent physical exam) on the MSM news networks that Trump weighed 237 lbs.
At what weight is a 6’3″ male considered overweight? At what weight are they considered obese?
At 5’7″, Ms. Clinton weighs at least 220 lbs. (I know exactly what 220 lbs looks like as I have lived nearly my entire life in a gym with mostly females, lol.) At what weight is a 5’7″ female considered overweight? At what weight are they considered obese?
I’m not giving anyone a pass. Trump admitted that he ate too much fast food because it was “convenient” when he was not at home. He needs to have his staff get him healthier meals when he is at work and also on the campaign trial, imho.
And had you even viewed the slide show I provided above, you would have realized that Machado and Trump were not only good friends during the era of the 1996 Miss Universe pageant, she really looked up to him and was grateful to him for helping her at the time.
You’re the “resident health nut,” around here, FIH. What say you?

Participant
bearishgurl,
Those skewed polls really helped President Romney?
I am not trying to make a personal attack here, but I think that someone has to step up and point out that your pedantic prose is not winning any fans.
You sure do spend an inordinate amount of time writing, but you do not really present cogent arguments. Your arguments either lack foundation or suffer from confirmation bias or false-consensus effect.
Your constant berating of these coastal dwellers shows that you suffer from primus inter pares effect. Your seeming distaste for many in the non-fly over states must reflect a deep seated longing for glory days of simpler times. You can channel that healthy longing in a manner that does not disrespect others.
BTW, I have lived in Ohio, Michigan, Illinois. Not exactly fly-over states, but still not exactly coastal either, so understand that life does exist east of 5, but it is too hot!
Well, I had to review the thread in order to find out where you may have gotten the impression that I have a “distaste for many in the non-flyover states,” equalizer. Since I myself have been a CA coastal dweller for ~50 years (does Alameda Co count as a “coastal county?”), if that is true, I must surely have a “distaste” for myself, my family and longtime friends!
I have previously posted on this forum that I didn’t think the groups pulling the ridiculous and even dangerous antics during the primary season outside Trump rallies across CA coastal counties (specifically, Orange and San Mateo Counties) was representative of CA’s electorate. These loosely-organized individuals (young students, including non-citizens as well as undocumented immigrants) paraded nude or nearly nude in front of the hotel in Burlingame (SFO area, where Trump spoke in a CA Republican Party Spring meeting) and repeatedly tried to crash (and were successful in doing so) the entrance barriers before and all during his rally. Trump and his security team had to literally park their SUV on a fwy construction shoulder and run a couple of hundred yards over scattered broken concrete block and high weeds into the hotel’s delivery entrance through the back of the building! Shortly after, outside Trump’s Huntington Beach rally, hundreds of mostly young people (some undoubtedly undocumented) were waiving MX flags, burned at least one American flag and rioted and repeatedly stomped on police patrol vehicle(s) and even rolled one on its side. The rioting and scattered fires they started continued through the evening and into the night.
After the above incidences, CA cities in coastal counties where Trump held rallies (such as SD . . . I was there) had to borrow hundreds personnel from adjacent law enforcement agencies, pull out all their horse patrols, wear all their riot gear, pull out all their bicycles and bring out their SWAT tanks in order to property “manage” the crowd outside the venue (SD Convention Center). It shouldn’t have had to be like this!
I’ve heard a lot of rumors to the contrary, but I don’t have any concrete “proof” that any member of the “liberal elite” was behind organizing any of these thugs who tried mightily to interfere with a presidential candidate’s right to free speech in CA coastal counties. My question is only, “why here?” These thugs aren’t likely registered to vote in CA, anyway! Their criminal antics (and the in-your-face huge displays of law enforcement in full riot gear in every CA city Trump had a scheduled rally in) made the Golden State look like an effing war zone full of ignoramuses to the rest of the country on the unrelenting MSM. I was truly embarrassed as events didn’t happen at Trump rallies in other states anywhere near to the degree they happened in CA coastal counties. These “fringe groups” cost CA taxpayers of ALL coastal counties a fortune! We have to ask ourselves where the h@ll all these thousands of dangerous misfits came from and what the h@ll are they are doing here?
I don’t blame Trump for not bothering to schedule any more rallies in CA coastal counties (just scattered fund raisers). His presence seems to be too much of a (physical and financial) burden to the daily workings of CA coastal cities and counties. Yet, he can land his jet on the tarmac of the single runway in the likes of Redding, CA and be greeted by an enthusiastic, organized and cheering crowd who is NOT confined to the inside of a building . . . go figure :=0
Yeah, there IS something wrong if a presidential candidate can’t have a rally for their supporters in a particular city without hundreds of dangerous thugs coming out of the woodwork, hell bent on causing property damage and injury, thereby causing a HUGE headache (and great expense) for local law enforcement agencies. And you’re right, equalizer, I have no repect for them, whatsoever. We have to ask ourselves how CA coastal counties (San Mateo County to SD County) got into this situation. That’s another subject that no one wants to talk about.

Participant
. . . Mexicans crossing the border to do manual labor or Syrian refugees displaced by a horrific war (hey, there’s that word again…) are not displacing any Americans. There’s no evidence that they are. You certainly haven’t even tried to present any evidence . . .
You’re misstating the facts, again, pri_dk . . . as to be expected, coming from you. I happen to know several American citizens of 3 different races (and mixtures thereof) who can’t seem to land positions they sought at local hotels (ex: housekeeping, desk clerk, restaurant hostess or kitchen prep work, etc) due to being passed over for hiring in favor of Mexican Nationals (with or without a “legitimate” right to work in the US), nearly ALL of whom reside in MX! This not only happens in hospitality . . . it happens in professional offices as well (ex: medical, dental and law).
Perhaps you should venture out of your perch in the IE a little more often so you can have the opportunity to speak to regular US citizens who live closer to the Int’l Border. I think you will find that there is a lot of involuntary underemployment and unemployment of US citizens who live on the US side of the border (who have far higher living costs than the sieve of mostly Mexican Nationals crossing the border every day for work).

Participant
Ttump should lose the women vote after the Machado affair. But i know that among his supporters, the women will follow their populist husbands in supporting Trump.
http://www.people.com/article/donald-trump-debate-miss-universe-alicia-machadoDo guys who criticise women’s ever look in the mirror and apply the same judgement to themselves? I would say that Alicia Machado is hotter that 99% of women who show up at Trump rallies. Lots of people would say that Alicia Machado is hotter than Melania or any of the other Trump wives.
Someone here in Bay Park isn’t shy:
[img_assist|nid=25979|title=women inexplicably for trump|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=489|height=348]

Yes, Machado IS and WAS pretty throughout her life . . . even at a size 10-14. However, she ballooned to 165 lbs shortly (4 months) after winning her Miss Universe crown in 1996. That was in violation of her contract for entering the contest (should she win the crown).
Instead of listening to the talking heads at CNN all day, perhaps you should look deeper into her relationship with DJT at the time of the pageant and 1-2 years after that, FIH. He was her most avid supporter, even giving her free access to his gym at Mar-a-Lago and its personal trainers for weeks! His concern and favors to her helped her quickly dump the weight she needed to to properly fulfill her duties as Miss Universe!
What Machado did in ’96/’97 is akin to drastically yoyo-ing up and down in weight (male OR female) while representing a weight loss company such as Jenny Craig (as a handful of well-known celebrities have done) WHILE under contract to represent that company. Of course, this is a breach of contract and grounds for “termination.” We have to ask ourselves WHO in Hill’s camp dug up Machado after going thru DJT’s comments of 20+ years ago and “coached” her to spout the lies to the MSM about him that she currently is. How much was she paid to now state that DJT is “racist” . . . among other outright lies? And why NOW?? Machado should be grateful that someone who could actually help her took a personal interest in her because they did not want the pageant winner to have weight issues with the organization.
Weight is something everyone can control. It’s called personal responsibility. Maybe someone should ask Ms. Clinton why she is now at least 85 lbs overweight when we all know that she used to have the ability to maintain a healthy weight over many years. Could it be that she has suffered from clinical depression in the past decade or so? If so, ask yourselves how that happened . . . and ponder the choices she made during her life which may very well have precipitated a depression leading to her fairly recent large weight gain. If she aspires to the strenuous job of Commander-in-Chief, she would do well to attempt to lose a few lbs per week steadily . . . whether or not she ends up with the job, IMO. If she can lose at least 60 lbs, she will undoubtedly prolong her period of mobility in her senior years, as well as her life.
HRC is a multimillionaire and thus has had access to the best personal trainers (even coming to her home 5 days per week) and can well afford an extensive home gym (if she doesn’t already have one). She can afford the best quality food and someone to prepare healthy meals for her meals at home, if she chooses to spend her time on what she considers to be more important endeavors. Her campaign can well afford to have someone obtain healthy meals for her every day she is on the campaign trail. She can carry hand-weights and a yoga mat to her hotel room . . . that’s what I do when I’m on the road, sitting in a vehicle for long lengths of time! She can have a Secret Service member follow her into her hotel’s gym so she can get a daily workout (or even reserve the entire gym for herself for a block of time)!
I noticed that the vast majority HRC’s fellow longtime female senators and assemblywomen “contemporaries” (currently age 56-76) are all approximately a size 4-10 (many appear to me to be under 120 lbs). If it wasn’t her stint in the Senate which propelled HRC into an unhealthy lifestyle, what was it? Her “stressful” stint as SOS, perhaps? I’m afraid for her continuing fitness should she be elected POTUS.
Yes, DJT has an extra ~25 lbs (+/- 5 lbs) on his 6’3″ frame. He ADMITTED THIS publicly and took personal responsibility for it. However, he appears to have a LOT more stamina and energy than HRC has. And YES, he should endeavor to lose the weight.

It was pretty amazing that in NYC/NJ it took less than 24 hours to find and capture that guy that decided to blow things up over the weekend. That suggests to me, we’re doing a pretty good job on things.
…
What was the complaint about the NSA again? Seems to me they are doing the job they are suppose to be doing.Wrong. Zero to do with the NSA and intrusive surveillance, everything to do with police work and luck. As far as I know, it went like this:
(1) Device went off on 23rd Street, NYC
(2) Device did not go off on 27th Street, NYC
(3) Fingerprint was found on the unexploded device
(4) Fingerprint was matched to Mr. Rahmani, who had previous police contact
(5) An alert (including emergency alert to phones) went out about Rahmani, who was found sleeping on a street in a nearby NJ town.
(6) Rahmani was also caught on video tossing the bombs in a trash bin in a NJ train stationIf anything, this is an argument for hiring competent detectives in local police, not for more scouring of personal communications by the Feds. Or for more tracking of people, video surveillance, etc. He would have been caught as easily in 1999 as now.
All of those things failed to uncover Rahmani’s plans. Same with the Boston bombers. Both were found by a combination of luck, the human need for sleep, and old-fashioned quality police work.
Cue conspiracy theories that he’s a patsy who was put up to it in order to disrupt the elections. Trump now has a terror attack to blame on the Dems being soft on terror — he stands to benefit from this. The whole thing with no deaths, a bunch of unexploded bombs, evidence left behind, etc, might seem a bit too good to be true for some people.
Guy strikes me as more of a Lee Harvey Oswald putz than an Osama Bin Laden mastermind type.
Thanks for posting an accurate description of NYPD’s thorough, boots-on-the-ground investigation and apprehension of Rahmani, spd. ParticipantAlso, practically the entire City of Irvine was built around the concept of the Homeowner’s Association. Thus, a very high percentage of residences there (85-90%?) lie within HOAs. If you want to buy a residence in Irvine, you will likely have to join one and pay ever-rising HOA dues PLUS any special assessments (with condo complexes) which are voted in by the Association’s Board of Directors . . . which could be several thousand per homeowner.
With a 740 FICO score, at today’s 30-yr mortgage rates, $350 month HOA dues is equivalent to borrowing another $83K on the mortgage!

Participantkev, what would be your commute time to work from Santa Ana . . . or even Whittier or El Monte (LA County)? I saw two nice cosmetic fixer SFRs in Whittier similar to the listings I posted here in Buena Park on your thread a few years ago listed this past summer for the low $400’s. I haven’t checked to see if they sold. I saw a corner lot 1900sf single-story SFR in El Monte which sold short for ~$360K in June of this year, I think. The house appeared to be in pretty good shape inside and the lot was mostly concrete, as I recall.
You’re frustrated because you have been looking in the wrong (high-competition) cities which have had too many all-cash investors trolling around them for years who are 20+ years older than you and have 30+ years experience in the construction trades, their own flatbed trucks and a warehouse full of tools. That is your “competition.”
