barnaby33ParticipantBut if you want to give precedence to some sloppy, partisan, ad-homenim attack article based upon distorted peseudo-facts, go right ahead.
No, I just want you to make a cogent argument. I read the entire thread. My interpretation of the OP’s intent was to ask a philosophical question. You are the one who resorted to knee jerk one line answers. Nobody else here argued the definition of citizenship.
There are very few facts to be had, this was an opinion piece. Both on the part of the treasury secretary, and the OP. You’ve added nothing to this.

barnaby33ParticipantStill not making heads or tails of your argument, if there is one. Just read the entire 14th amendment, several times. Its an attempt to nail down citizenship, later used to foster civil rights. Nothing in this thread, or what Timmay said via Zerohedge has anything to do with revoking or proving ones right to be an American. It merely opines that the tax load on those who are deemed to be wealthy should be increased.
You sir are being a twat.

barnaby33ParticipantMeanwhile in Non Sequador. I just re-read the Constitution and couldn’t find where your derivative mark intercepts this discussion. Would you care to be less obtuse or is, “read the Constitution,” your one-liner for everything?
Josh
barnaby33ParticipantParamount, I’m curious are you the average American, or merely the representative of their disdain for our discussion?
barnaby33ParticipantA W-2 or other proof of income.

barnaby33ParticipantI’m going out on a limb and guessing, you sell mortgages.

barnaby33ParticipantHi XXXXX
You once signed up for Monster/Dice/HotJobs and I thought I’d run my keyword filter to send you an automated spam.
By Highly profitable I mean, not actually losing money, unless you use GAAP. Being positioned to be bent over by capital markets and lose all good employees after they figure out mgmt sold them a ration of shit.
You hit at least 50% on my keyword search, bravo sir. I’m not sure what hands on architecture is but I know that a critical problem I have to solve is getting a but in that seat. I don’t get commissions from being charming.
(insert all recruiters names here.)
barnaby33ParticipantWell I have said several times the downturn is really just in the real estate related sectors,
If we could get the housing market to get back to a normal market (ie.. not just investors buying REO’s for steep discounts for all cash). Then we would be under 6% unemployment.
If the banks were to loosen up the mortgage market just a little this would be over in a flash.
Makes me think they are just waiting for a signal or something.Really people still say things this silly? Especially on piggington?

barnaby33ParticipantDecent is sooo context relative. If I’m in San Diego, decent takes on the subtle tones of something that matches the food I’m going to eat and the company I’m going to keep without a splashy label and splashy price tag. Usually a decent white is 15 and will be either a German riesling, NZ Suav blanc or petit Chablis.
On the red side its something that isn’t an oaky fruit bomb that I can share with friends or drink by myself. Usually sub 20 and includes lesser known Cal cab, or cru bourgeois Bordeaux or even Borgogne (cheap burgundy). Aussie Shiraz can be a good option.
In either case decent means Wednesday night wine. Something I can open on wed whether by myself or with someone and not care if I finish the bottle.
In my current local its anything I can get that doesn’t burn my tongue on the way down!

barnaby33ParticipantDiscovering working out in your 50’s is like losing your virginity in your 40’s. Better late than never I suppose.
Next lets all quit smoking!
barnaby33ParticipantFalling house prices are deflationary symptoms. Rising food prices are inflationary symptoms. I keep thinking back to a quote I made on Ben’s blog several years ago. We’ll have inflation in things you need and deflation in things you want. Mostly because we’ll have currency inflation, but global wage arbitrage will ensure that wages mostly don’t rise.
Its that which I’m seeing. Food and basics are increasing in price quickly while house prices and electronics get cheaper. That is until we enter a new phase.
People banging on the strong inflation drum still haven’t been able to come full circle and say, yep we’ve got inflation but its not going into wages. So where is a housing recovery going to come from? 4% mortgages are only a good idea if prices are at a floor. The more my food costs the less I’m interested in a stucco box full of liabilities no matter how inferior my culture makes me out to be. As a matter of fact 4% mortgages are an explicit sign that our economy and markets are not recovering.
Josh
barnaby33ParticipantDo you know anything about the history of the mortgage or just how long the vast majority of Americans have relied heavily on financing?
hslinger, many of those of us who’ve been around a while are quite cognizant of the history of mortgages and finance. Tanta viva!
