ParticipantSDR: I concur with your observation, and would offer an observation of my own. That is, the more intelligent and open minded posters (IMHO) also tend to be the more considerate in their responses and considered in their logic and reasoning.
Some of the more hyperbolic and vitriolic responses have also been rife with misspellings and grammatical errors. This probably sounds somewhat judgmental, but there it is.
I have had my head handed to me a couple of times here, and by the “pros” (those with the data and the sound arguments), and, because of how professionally it was done, I had no hard feelings. To the contrary, nothing is more enjoyable than a good argument (in the truest definition of the word) with a good opponent.
Some of the more ad hominem attacks are simply over the top, and they really detract from both the spirit of this board and the overall quality of the posters/postings.
Just my $.02.
On a personal note, I have really appreciated your hard work in disseminating some truly valuable information about the local RE scene. I have gained new insights as a result, and it forced me to rethink several of my positions (for the better, I should add). Regards.

Participantmarion: A sincere thanks for a very enjoyable posting! I know that sounds somewhat patronizing and condescending, and I do apologize as that is not my intent. Rather I have enjoyed the back and forth trememdously, as well as being able to watch some of the intellectual horsepower that this board boasts on full display.
It also makes me realize that “The Battle of the Sexes” remains as fiercely contested as ever with no end in sight.
I also find myself in the unenviable position of wanting to say something, but it appears that everyone else has already beaten me to the punch.
Arty: As an aside, if you owned the house on entering the marriage, it is yours. The State of California makes a very clear delineation between assets derived during the course of a marriage and those owned by the respective parties when they came in.

ParticipantMarion: This guy has had the hammer dropped on him before. His request for a pre-nup, combined with his strong reaction to your suggestion regarding a “nice” dinner would certainly suggest he has been put through the wringer by some woman in his past and is absolutely certain he won’t let it happen again.
While, as a man, I certainly hear what you are saying as regards a “nice” dinner, I also (as a man) agree with what Kewp said regarding manipulation and moral suasion. You have to be careful with someone like this (your date, not Kewp), given what has undoubtedly happened in his past.
I would certainly recommend some specificity with him as to what constitutes a nice date, and with the caveat that you are looking for something more in terms of the event, not the cost.

ParticipantRustico and sdrealtor: Thanks for the compliments, sincerely.
sdr: As far as those Raiders victories being bittersweet, I can’t disagree. We’ve doubled our win total from last year, but we are going to forgo certain opportunities in the draft. However, if recent and past history are any indicators, we aren’t really going to do much with the picks once we get them. Robert Gallery ringing any bells?
Someone mentioned ScruffyDog. I really would like to get his take (again, sincerely) on what is going on the RE market. He seemed an intelligent guy, if somewhat propagandistic on the subject of RE as an investment. He took a pretty good thumping back there, and seems to have vanished.
I want to give a shout out to TG. A man fond of his spirits, the womenfolk, and always robust in his defense of Temecula. While us Fallbrook types tend to get a little snotty about Temecula, I don’t know where I’d be without my occasional breakfasts at The Swing Inn.
