    Even the Coast has its less desirable areas and surprisingly, Del Mar has high crime statistics due to the track and the fair. Most of the time, crime is low, but the influx of low lifes jacks up the crime rate due to the crime in relationship to the population. Stats are deceptive. Pick a micro community that fits your family and try renting there and see if you like living there.

    Oceanside is a big city – over 100,000 people. It has good areas and bad areas like any big city.

    If it were closer to my employer, I could be perfectly happy living there. As it is, it would be too long of a commute so, though we did look there, we never really seriously considered living there.

    I have several friends who live there in very nice homes…they seem perfectly content.

    I think in general, most people don’t know the areas well that they bash. And I find I often don’t agree with the majority of people on areas they adore (especially if they are talking about big houses that all look alike on top of each other and the only shopping and eating to be had is in strip malls with chains). Do what makes you and your family happy. There’s nothing wrong with Oceanside, especially if you’re sending your kids to private schools!

    REPUTATION or IMPRESSION of place, that’s
    why Oceanside has lower price then Carlsbad.

    Have you watched the news of last weekend? a guy
    was shoot by a cop and sent to hospital in critical
    condition? when people think of Oceanside, why
    “shooting” always pop up ?

    I know Oceanside has good places(even with bad
    school), but it can not change the whole image
    of Oceanside.
