Like so many have said before, this bill, although far from perfect is a step in the right direction for this country. I am glad it is now signed into law. It is significant, historic legislation on a par with the passing of Medicare for seniors and the disabled…that happened over 40 years ago !
Like you, I’m pleased that it passed. But this is far from historic legislation. It is filled with ideas supported and proposed by every Republican president since Nixon. That certainly doesn’t make it bad, it’s simply less than historic. It is not a progressive bill. When insurance doesn’t cover all of women’s parts, it cannot be progressive. Hopefully, as you say, it is a step in the right direction.

March 23, 2010 at 1:04 PM #529766briansd1Guestjpinpb, that’s why i support Walmart. Through private initiative and technology, Walmart is very good at cutting out the middlemen and lowering costs.
Maybe Walmart would get in the health insurance business and open clinics next to the garden centers.
I think the idea is to provide a minimal amount of insurance to everyone.
Companies that want to attract and retain good employees are free to buy the best plans for their employees. Same goes for all individuals.
Nobody is rationing health care. But at least everyone should have a basic “walmart plan”.

You have got to be kidding. The only thing walmart is good at is squeezing out the little guy mom/pop stores.
