“Could not agree more sdr. Looking back on the property that my wife and I backed out of last July. It definitely was a bad move to back out.”
SD Realtor, was that the Pudregal house?
I find your comment very interesting as a fellow buyer. The market has apparantly dropped since July but yet you still feel you had a better deal then than what you can get now. I guess this underscores the point that in SD if you are looking for the “special” house you had better be prepared to move on it and not concentrate so much on timing the bottom.

Your statements are a perfect example of the difference between looking for a deal and looking for a home just like you said.
To me looking for the home that fits my needs is more important then the deal I get on it. The Pudregal house was that home, if only just for my family. I did get more caught up in the deal though because IMO it needed 100k just to get to be livable. New roof, pretty much full mold remediation and plumbing issues. Yet the lot was exactly what fit our bill and the location south of Pomerado was what we desired should we stay in Scripps. Not a cul-de-sac but not a busy street either and nobody behind the home.
To each his own though, for me the priority is the home but for many others it is the deal.

I appreciate what you are saying, I also appreciate what sddddude is saying. My part usually consist of bashing heads with these guys, especially sdrealtor and to the least degree Dan.
Yeah that in itself is probably stupid but it is not school yard tricks.I am thinking of changing my screen name and “school yard tricks” has a ring to it. Probably not safe to use on the Internet due to possible misunderstandings.
With regard to SDR backing out of a house he thought was a good deal in retrospect(If I am following correctly), this adds an example that supports my claim that buyers not agents control their own destiny regarding bargains. As a Savvy agent he found himself a deal, he chose to pass as a buyer.
We are called agents after all not “great deal enforcers”…school yard tricks or no.Not that I am saying it justifies shenanigans. I hate them too. Buyer should take control.Edit O.K. Adam you passed on a “great home” beacuse the deal wasn’t good enough. Same thing. I don’t see any shortgage of great homes, but as you said, each to their own.
