The comments are hilarious. The fact that this solution is tenable and has worked drives the pro big government and pro union people nuts.
Unfortunately, San Diego would go bankrupt before our leaders would have the political will to try something like this (in spite of the lip service that Sanders has given to outsourcing city services).
Mish had this on website yesterday and got attacked with comments like (and I paraphrase):
“Just old white republicans protect themselves first.”
and some other racially motivated comments. But when you watch the video the interviewie has a hard time phrasing the idea that they were tired of all thier taxes going to the inner city and not reaping the benefits of thier taxes without sounding a little bit like saying “I’m tired of helping the poor”.
Very interesting video though. I would like to see something that stated the downside, if any, to this. Also it would be very cool to see this on a larger scale as well.
Plus I always thought CHM2Hill was a chemical engineeing company.
