    My wife and I were days from buying a new Rav4 when the recall happened. We still like this vehicle and are hoping Toyota will lower the price or offer other incentives. Any thoughts or are we crazy to still consider the purchase?

    I expect Toyota to do some aggressive incentive to move most of their vehicles. My wife and I are looking into 2010 Sienna, and currently they are offering $1000 cash, but with all these issues and 2011 Sienna coming out soon, we are waiting. Regarding safety, with all the scrutiny, Toyota cars and truck would be really safe I don’t have any doubt. However I still hate the Prius……

    Personally I wouldn’t go near any of the drive-by-wire models, rebate or no rebate.

    This reminded me of an interview I read a long time ago, I think in Car and Driver in the early 90s, with Lee Iacocca about the future of auto technology. He said “over my dead body will any car of mine have drive-by-wire. Even if it’s triply redundant it can still fail”. I don’t agree with the decision he made concerning the Ford Pinto, but looks like he may have been right about this one.
