GuestAlthough it is technically not 100% over, it is over.
The board almost always rubber stamps the opinion of the planning commission and it would look awfully suspicious of they did otherwise this time. Plus, with the Pechanga fighting at the state level (and likely to win there), Granite has a serious uphill battle ahead of them if they choose to continue.
Congratulations to the “No-Quarry” activists. I admire their dedication to this cause. This story is a wonderful example of how individual citizens can make a difference.
(Also, a nod to TG who predicted the Pechanga could beat Granite. We’ll never know exactly what happened, but it’s looking that way.)

ParticipantFYI: “Emotional pleas” and “NIMBYism” and “political reactionaries” typically don’t stand up to judicial review. And even if the reviewing court will not issue the writ, Granite will still have the right after an unsuccessful writ petition to file a claim against the county and sue for all their damages.
I just hope those “universities” and Penchanga tribe have deep pockets and a fleet of attorneys on standby because those “emotional citizens” who “banded together” probably don’t have either one.
At the present time, the “fat lady” is merely practicing her scales.
