Wow, I can’t believe someone thinks prison guards are overpaid…talk about one of the worst and most difficult jobs out there. Again, if the job is so easy, and the guards are compensated so well, why aren’t all the complainers signing up?
If you’re not giving up your job to become a prison guard, then either you’re not thinking straight, or something inside of you truly knows that you are better off where you are than if you were to become a prison guard. You must be a governnment worker??

April 30, 2011 at 5:04 PM #690698CoronitaParticipantFolks, if you really hate CA public unions…Just move out of this state.
And I don’t mean this is a bad way…I have friends who have done just this, and moved to the DC/Maryland/Virginia area….
A lot of them were defense enginerds/managers/etc, and they don’t regret the decision because according to them, the quality of life is several times better….
For starters, while folks in CA defense sector are worked to death because of fear of being let go, in the east coast, my buddies tell me that they can’t push their coworkers too hard and ask them to work more than 8 hr days, otherwise they might quit….They’ve all gotten big raises from even inflated SD wages and the company paid for the relocation back to the east coast completely….
Or move to a state with no state income tax.
Really, the problem isn’t going away anytime soon…..
And BTW: if you graduated from Harvard law, and you aren’t capable of making $350k+ per year before you’re 40, you just suck…. I say “capable”, because there are people who are capable but not willing (IE they have the opportunity to make that much but rather do something else that pays less, which is completely respectable too)…
