It’s a Republican administration bill backed more by Democrats than Republicans yet the Democrat speaker supporting the bill was responsible for its failure? That makes no sense.
I’m thinking the raitio of voter support against the bill (last I heard on CNN, the email/fax/call-in remarks were 200-1 against) was what killed it.
Not sure if Pelosi’s speech had anything to do with killing the bill, but if it did, I’m all for whatever she said.

September 29, 2008 at 2:56 PM #277395ifyousaysoParticipantlet’s assume for a moment that passage of this bill is as important and necessary as paulson and the white house claims that it is. now, if the republicans changed their mind, based on statements by someone they clearly do not respect, then it would seem that they are petty, short-sighted, and completely unable to put country above politics. And for that reason, they would deserve to be fired, every one of them.
But who really believes, that they *truely* were influenced by what she said anyway. The truth is they don’t have the balls to vote ‘yes’ and they need an excuse. And really, I’m just glad they voted no…
