I come at this from a different perspective, SDR. I come from a different country, and didn’t know the politics here before I arrived. I am not under the impression that things have changed much over the years.

I would guess that your upbringing in one of the great American political tribes, as I like to call them, led you to believe that they were the Good Side, and the other tribe was the Dark Side. As a child, you just didn’t have the opportunity to see things as clearly as you see them now. In other words, SDR, it’s possible that your change in perspective is due to Observer enlightenment, not a change in the behavior of the Observed.

I do not mistake our democratic politicians for liberals.

Thanks for the response and I agree with most of what you said. I am not a fan of either party. As PR pointed out I grew up in a strong strong strong democratic pro union household. So yes PR you pretty much did peg it. At some point, maybe 10 or 12 years ago I did think that the GOP was the way to go, but that didn’t last long and I went full tilt libertarian. To me government is not the anser for anything.

Enorah I guess I don’t really agree that all outside me is a reflection of my self (or this self, or a self from another life) but I think I do understand what you are trying to put forth.

I think that yes love is the answer but there have been periods in our history whereasmuch as love is the answer, evil was defeated only because men stood up and fought back. I am not saying that our current administration is evil. By the same token I am sure that those Jews in Nazi Germany that could have said love was the answer would still have been put to death in a gas chamber regardless of how much they loved.
