ParticipantI will concede that my post was assuming that some fraction of the 1500 Kcal expenditure was devoted to the working of muscle. Most people walk, which uses a certain amount of muscle.
Any amount of muscle use would make the statement true. Changing the action from walking to strength training simply amplifies the effect. I completely agree that strength training is an excellent idea for everyone, even/especially little old ladies.March 3, 2008 at 2:18 PM #163930robson

Good post. What juices are you drinking on your diet weekends? Most juices are high on sugar, what about protein drink, Ensure,etc? Probably just 400-500 calories is the key, right?

ParticipantWhat I found is that if nothing else I feel much better off the sugar/carbs – I don’t become hypoglycemic and my appetite is more controlled.
