come on, man. if you have 12,000 in the bank and you owe 12,000 and you can make 12 easy payments of 1,000 a month, there is NOTHING GOOD about paying the 12,000 off on day 1. NOTHING! I am anti-debt, but let’s not be ridiculous. some debt is more idiotic than others, it’s not all the same.

Ask again in ten years… my guess is that by that time, they will see that they could have “paid off” a huge chunk of the loan via currency debasement, rather than by saving and sacrificing as they did.
