ParticipantSome of the comments made by the speculator in that article are hillarious!
He honestly thinks the house isn’t selling because buyers don’t appreciate the “fine quality” of his house. He built the darn thing in the middle of very normal, middle-class homes, and he expects someone to pony up the big bucks to live in the monstrosity that sits in the middle of “Normalville.” Unbelievable!
He is the victim of a still-plummeting housing market, which has been especially harsh on Charlotte’s most expensive homes, thanks to a loss of wealth in this city’s financial sector. But Markel is more than willing to pass around blame – to Realtors who dwell on the years the house has spent not selling, to buyers who think the kitchen is a smidge too small for a 7,000-square-foot house, to a city that doesn’t quite get the architectural and design brilliance that was bestowed upon it.
