Funny that’s what I think of Conservatives….lol Despite plunging us into Great Recession, they insist Bush style deregulation is the only way to run this country. They accuse the Left for wanting to re-distribute wealth all the while under GOP watch the wealth is re-distributed UP to the wealthiest 2% and middle class is destroyed.
They advocate for small government yet wants government to tell them who they can marry and what scientific research is allowed. They want small government but wants to make sure the government has the right to monitor everything you do, require you to prove your citizenship on the spot and torture who “they” deem threat. They want small government but wants government to tell none-Christian religions where they can or can’t build their place of worship.
How is that rational?
My, what an ignorant, insulting and ultimately bigoted post. I’m a conservative, and yet don’t believe in any of those things.
As a former soldier, I’m categorically against torture and do not support warrantless wire-tapping, Patriot Act (I or II) or any of the various rendition programs (started during a Democratic administration).
As a thinking Catholic, I can state that you don’t have a clue what you’re talkinga about, as I come from a tradition that asserts that both Faith and Reason are necessary for enlightenment and advancement.
As a person who not only reads history, but uses it to gain perspective, I’d challenge your assertion that Dubya “plunged us into the Great Depression” and would encourage you to look at nearly 40 years of feckless, self-serving legislators and legislation from both parties that landed us in the mess we’re in.
Nothing is stupider than someone who labels another before finding out what that person thinks or believes. If you employed the same non-sensical, irrational approach to people based on race, sexual orientation or beliefs, you’d rightfully be branded as a small-minded, homophobic bigot.
“Better to keep one’s mouth shut and be thought a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt”.
Exactly my point.
As some one on center left I don’t agree with all the things Far Left pushes and certainly not “Leftist Conspiracy” far right believes are Leftist agenda. I was just responding to the “an ignorant, insulting and ultimately bigoted post” made by Zeitgest.
I do think curious that you would brand me as ignorant & bigoted while you thought nothing of the same kind of post made by Zeitgest.

Believe me, Zeit and I have gone round and round before and we have our differences, in spite of sharing a common conservative background.
What I took issue with, and addressed, were the assertions YOU made, NOT Zeit. And, yes, you did take a hard stand along the lines of “all Conservatives are unthinking evangelical Christians” when nothing could be further from the truth.
I’m tired of the same old tired rhetoric that conflates conservatism with born-again Christianity (another group I have significant issues with) and stifles meaningful dialogue and discourse by conveniently pigeonholing people based on meaningless and wrong assumptions.
You want to debate using facts, fine. I’m all for that. But don’t tell me what I believe and don’t use talking points in place of actual history. This country is horribly polarized right now, and for these very same reasons.
