    I was wondering how many folks saw the cover story on foreclosures in today’s fishwrap? What struck me was that there are a few ZIP codes where the median home price has returned to about 3X’s the median HH income. In my mind, 3X an individual’s household income has always been the benchmark for affordability. Of course there are many more that have far to go but we may not be too far from a bottom in certain areas. I’m kinda shocked that we were able to get there so quickly even in the hood’s.

    You mean the union buffoon? Which neighborhoods? On a related note the NYT had a good story about drowning in debt and how we got to the point we are at where so many Americans owe so much money.

    most of orange county is still 6-7 times median income. Places like Laguna Niguel are still about 10 times median income.

    Median HH Income $67.7K
    Median Home Price $294.8K

    Encanto
    Median HH Income $63.9K
    Median Home Price $255K

    Nothing fancy there but its an encouraging sign that affordability is getting relatively close to returning somehwere in SD….anywhere in SD……
