I turn to blogs and satirical I turn to blogs and satirical news programs because the traditional news media has lost its way. I read what Rich and Peter Schiff have to say because they engage in deeper investigative reporting and provide more insightful and accurate analysis of the economy than anyone at CNBC or WSJ. I watch Jon Stewart and Bill Maher because they are similarly more on top of the political news than CNN. Sadly, the traditional media is largely full of cheerleaders, ignorant blow hards and moronic sheep. I knew that housing was a bubble, and I found the mainstream news useless in its analysis that rising home prices were a good thing and sustainable long term. It was extremely refreshing to find piggington and see Rich confirming my beliefs with data that I had neither the patience or resources to find myself, and would never have gotten from the paper. And I get to add my 2 cents to the discussion. If I can help enlighten anyone, contribute to a more informed and savvy society, perhaps we can right the boat at some point.
As an added bonus, these blogs and the Daily Show make me laugh. If I don’t laugh at all this mess, I will be crushed by depression…

I think “Information” and “Intellectual pursuit” are very closely related and even “Boredom” could be thrown in the same mix. Personally I started reading blogs because I found people on here who aren’t trying to sell me something like the MSM. Now I do it because I get frustrated with the morons I work with and need an escape. Also the IT guy hasn’t figured out about this site and blocked my access to it.

This board has saved me
This board has saved me thousands of dollars, as it is here that i discovered mortgage rates had dropped over 1.5 percent below my current mortgage.
Information is the main reason I’m here.
Being able to toss in the occasional snide/funny/helpful comment is pure gravy. If I didn’t learn something on a regular basis here, I would be gone in a heartbeat.

I turn to blogs and satirical
I turn to blogs and satirical news programs because the traditional news media has lost its way.

I think “to teach others”
I think “to teach others” should be on the list.
While some just like to pontificate and call it teaching, many of the Piggs are great teachers and likely find satisfaction in that, perhpas without even realizing it.
