I’m confused.
BMWs are status symbols,
But they’re common.
They are expensive for oil changes.
But so are a lot of other cars.
And they cost the same as a corolla.
But they’re status symbols.
I think he said his used BMW cost the same as a new Corolla.
Anyway, I agree with you. As I said (paraphrasing myself), BMWs are only really status symbols among BMW drivers. And maybe a (very) few others. But hey, to each his own! Give me a Camaro SS any day. For less than the price of a 328i, you get a much faster car. Or a Shelby GT 500. For about the price of a 535i, you get more than twice the horsepower and an 11.5 second quarter mile. Screw status, that’s fun!

Participant

I would be curious what kind of cars are the offenders. I’d say BMW drivers are the worst
When I first got my BMW I always felt like I was being challenged, and in some cases maybe a victim of resentment – or maybe even class warfare. That still may be the case, but I’ve adjusted.
Normally when I get on the 15 the 1st thing I do (if clear) is get into the lane next to the slow lane (#2?).
My BMW has capabilities that far exceed most cars around me; but I don’t need the stress so I take it safe and easy.
Resentment? Class warfare? I think you’re seeing things that aren’t there. I think BMW drivers have a far higher opinion of BMWs than other people do. I don’t think most people think much about BMWs, let alone resent them or engage in class warfare over them. I think if you drive a Ferarri or a Lamborghini or a Bentley you might get a bit of envy from very few people, but mostly admiration and lust with some joy. BMWs? I think they get a lot of meh if they get anything.

Not true: “Regarding the Republican Party, historians report that while Democrats were busy passing laws to hurt blacks, Republicans devoted their time to passing laws to help blacks. Republicans were primarily responsible for the following Civil Rights legislation:
1. The Emancipation Proclamation
2. The 13th Amendment
3. The 14th Amendment
4. The 15th Amendment
5. The Reconstruction Act of 1867
6. The Civil Rights of 1866
7. The Enforcement Act of 1870
8. The Forced Act of 1871
9. The Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871
10. The Civil Rights Act of 1875
11. The Freeman Bureau
12. The Civil Rights Act of 1957
13. The Civil Rights Act of 1960
14. The United State Civil Rights CommissionAnd gave strong bi-partisan support and sponsorship for the following legislation
15. The Civil Rights Act of 1964
17. The Voting Rights Act of 1965
18. The 1968 Civil Rights Acts
19. The Equal Opportunity Act of 1972
20. Goals and Timetables for Affirmative Action Programs
21. Comprehensive Employment Training Act of 1973
22. Voting Rights Act of Amendment of 1982
23. Civil Rights Act of 1983
24. Federal Contract Compliance and Workforce Development Act of 1988”That’s like saying “Tony Bennett can sing better than Michael Buble” Have you heard Tony sing lately? It’s not pretty. Michael Buble is pretty lame. And he can’t touch Tony Bennett when Tony was in his prime. But right now, he can sing better than Tony.

Yeah, Vegas might very well work out great for you. I hope it does.
zk
Participant
Zk, did you buy in Vegas?
Where in Georgia, if you don’t mind my asking… just general idea.
I didn’t buy in Vegas. My plan is a 30-year plan, and I worry that a lot could go wrong in a town that is somewhat dependent on a single industry. Plus the cash flow is better in GA.
Around Macon.

Participant

zk, are you in SD County?
Yes, but the properties are in Georgia.
For papers for an LLC, you can also use a paralegal or paralegal services. Make sure they are familiar with the rules in Georgia.. (BTW why there.. I heard Delaware gives you better treatment..)BTW, my understanding is that the LLC doesn’t have to be formed in the state that the properties are located in. Are there specific legal advantages that you are looking for when forming the LLC in Georgia?
I’ve also heard Delaware gives you better treatment when forming an LLC. I could legally (and might) use a Delaware LLC. I’m buying in GA because the cash flow there is good. I’m not forming a GA LLC.

Well, I’m not an idiot, so I guess I should be able to do it myself. I don’t know, though. Seems like maybe having somebody who’s done it hundreds of times and knows the pitfalls, obstacles, tricks and loopholes might be a good idea. But one who doesn’t charge $450/hr.

I must be misinterpreting that.

Yeah, we could attempt to totally eliminate one-in-a-million crime, but that would lead to a totally controlled world that’s not much fun to live in. Any litigation against the theatre would be money grubbing, plain and simple.
Amen, brother.

ParticipantCAR did start with “FWIW, not related to CV specifically.” But still, as ocrenter said (paraprhasing), WIW=0.
Anyway, sounds like you got a good deal on your house, CAR. Congratulations on that.

Participant
zk,
This was from someone who works on REO dispositions for banks.
Well, CAR, I’d kinda been slow in agreeing with sdr’s accusations that you’re naive and conspiracy-minded. But if that’s your response, I’m going to have to start agreeing with him. First of all, you entirely missed sdr’s point here (which he makes after your post above but which you respond to similarly). Second, any post that starts with, “I heard from a guy who works with a guy who says,” and contains no data or other evidence, can’t really be taken seriously. You’re grabbing on to the most insubstantial of nuggets to support your position, here, and it’s not working.

Participant
FWIW, not related to CV specifically, but I’ve also heard the same story WRT banks keeping houses off the market. This was from someone who works with a higher-up in one of the largest banks in the US. This was a few years ago, too.
From what he said, the banks said they were going to board up houses and pay someone to maintain them “indefinitely,” until prices rise again. Also heard that they were renting some of these houses back to the FBs while still in the FB’s names. There are still many people who haven’t made a mortgage payment *in years,* but are still living in “their” homes without being foreclosed on.
There is no doubt that the housing market is being manipulated in ways we’ve never seen before, and it’s not over yet.
Oh, dear. Now that I’ve heard from somebody who’s heard from somebody who “works with” (but isn’t actually) a “higher up” at a large bank (a few years ago, no less) that banks are withholding foreclosures, I’m really scared.
