According to some of the experts, the large stores do not have much more on hand than for 48 hours and when there is a big run on them like in hurricane season, they run out much faster. I do not think you have to eat military or freeze dried food. Next time you are in Costco, look at some of the canned meat items and see how long they last. As others have previously posted, white rice, properly stored, has a long shelf life. I do not mind drinking warm beer, but I cannot drink warm champagne. That would be blasphemy. For that reason alone, I hope we do not have an utter meltdown. I have always felt we are a few clicks away from chaos, but like the Partypup, I am a light sleeper.
