I’m considerering paying my kid for grades. I was thinking $100 for an A, $15 for a B, minus $80 for less than a B, $200 Bonus for straight A’s. Eight classes: minimum zero, max $1,000. Good idea or bad idea?
Man, in the 80’s I got $10 total for straight A’s and got grounded if I didn’t get straight A’s. Sucked to be me, I guess.

WaitingToExhaleParticipant

I was wondering about the whole house, not just the kitchen. Sorry about the ambiguity. I suspected the question might be too general, but I’m trying to determine how much cash it would take to put into the house + asking price vs. typical cost in the area.
Note that I have no clue, here, just thinking about the options as I look at homes.
Well, this really depend on your taste and the house. The house might be in livable condition, but you want to change things around. That’ll cost money. It really depends on how expensive is your taste too. Would you be changing out all the doors to new doors to better match your taste? Would you add crown moldings? Would you you change out the baseboards? Would you re-tile the bathroom? Change all the flooring? There are a million little things you can customize with a home and they all cost $ to do. So, it’s really up to you how much you want to spend. I can see if you customize EVERYTHING to your taste, it can easily be in the 150k-250k range when all is said and done.
The interior is trashed, so I’d think the higher end estimates would be fairly accurate. Thanks for your thoughts.

WaitingToExhaleParticipantWhat would the ballpark cost for a total remodel for a 1970’s 2000 sqft house be? How much time would it take? I understand that these are rather general questions, but I’m just trying to get a general idea of how much of a “discount” would be appropriate if a place needed a total remodel.
