Participant
The turbo thing is annoying bureaucracy (probably dating from an earlier time, when mods had more of a chance of making a car dirtier).
Actually it was bureaucratic ignorance that caused it. The politicians & Eco-heads took the approach that only the manufacturer knew how to make the vehicle run cleanest. This is why almost any modifications are considered ‘tampering with the emissions system’. The end result was that we had new US cars running open-loop carburetors in early-mid 1980’s while the imports were almost all fuel injected & closed-loop. It wasn’t for lack of know-how. The Chevy Corvette had a port fuel injection option in the 1950s. To some extent the emission people have grudgingly (but not openly) admitted that hot-rodders were right. Changing the ignition to higher voltages, using mag-wires instead of carbon suppression, and headers really do reduce emissions. Maybe it was brought on by emissions requirements that were tighter.. and imports using stock exhaust manifolds that look like headers– and easily passing the emissions requirements.
It should only be tailpipe.. the only under-hood should be to verify vapor recovery and PCV.

Participant
He doesn’t need to. He works for the government… I’ve decided not to tax government workers and pensions when (not if, definitely when) i get re-elected.
But what if you worked for a government contractor, were laid off.. and then got brought back on as a contractor to a government contractor?? Do I now get a tax refund on the unpaid tax? Will this be retroactive to date of re-hire or birth?

You mean “Brutus,” silly. He’s not here, anymore…
Luv it all, LOL!
Britus = Brian/Brutus = Obama = Romney
Or is it squat250 playing around? or has squat250 developed multiple personality disorder? Both Brian and Brutus could not do things in a joking manner. To them, the political party was the center of their being/existence.

Participant
Hi,
My name is Gabe Stockton.
I know Alexx and he is a great person… He is actively doing real estate fix n flips and looks to do business with other good people.. its just a simple yes or no…
No need to bash the man:)
Instead of hiding behind the computer please just call him and see for yourself!
That is not how it works. If we don’t feel comfortable or find real questions as to what is happening, we don’t waste our time. We move on. No relying on ‘charm’ or the personal/personable approach to convince. There are too many questions on this deal – particularly the approach. This ‘deal’ failed the sniff test.. akin to due diligence. We also share what we find out with each other.PS: Are you associated with “PlainClarity Communications” in some fashion?

Participant
It’s been like that for a month or so. You just need to delete your utsandiego.com cookies to resume reading Papa Dougie’s rag for free. Some browsers (such as Firefox) allow you to pre-emptively block cookies from specific sites, so you can set this once and never worry about it again.
You can also set up Firefox to clean out all cookies when you close or exit Firefox. Some websites need cookies to function.. this allows these to function, then when you close Firefox.. the cookies disappear. Also helps with reducing being ‘tracked’ by websites. To really do it right though, you need to blow/wipe the browser cache when exiting too. (unfortunately not an option on Firefox)

ParticipantDon’t forget the aspect of AMT that kicks in if you have a lot of long term capital gains. There is a minimum % that checked under AMT.
To do it right, you need a mix of short term, taxable as income and long term, taxable as long term capital gains.

Participant
My only problem with the GoPro is it didn’t do well with pressure and humidity changes. I only brought the solid door with me to Colombia and every single video (flying) fogged up within a few minutes.
Josh
I don’t understand ‘brought the solid door’.. I know someone who has a GoPro mounted to the underside of an aircraft and has flown in in Florida (up to about 8,000 ft altitude) with no fogging. There is a significant temperature change w/ the altitude as well as humidity. The GoPro is in an enclosure.. I think he runs it in an underwater enclosure.. it is mounted on the outside of the Aircraft (underneath, behind the nosewheel). He also uses an under tail mount, including on an OV-1 he owns.NOTE: It wasn’t the dive enclosure.. he is using the standard waterproof housing.

ParticipantAs opposed to nursing home, what about assisted care living facilities? They may be lower price and better set up. Insurance may be able to cover some of the costs of an assisted care living facility. It may require a doctors signature stating that they need assisted care. Assisted care living facilities are useful for people with some function, but need assistance.

Participant
Now – can you name civil rights legislation that they initiated after 1960 (52 years ago)?
Not just supported, but initiated?
You seem to be under the misguided assumption that more legislation is always better. KISS works in legislation as well…

Participant
For those in the know…just how doable is 3-D printing possible at a garage/personal level these days.
Did you check the link I had on my last message?.. it is a DIY 3D printer.. and is quite doable. It does work with plastic, primarily PET type plastics. Other people have built 3D ‘carving’ machines etc.

ParticipantI don’t know about their ‘fluff’ on 3-D printing, but I know that where I work, we use it a lot for prototyping. I don’t think that it is very effective for bulk manufacturing… too slow. You build up layers by 1/20th to 1/100th of an inch.. even smaller in some cases.
In terms of Motley Fool themselves.. I tend to find the quality of their ratings to be ‘all over the place’.. and things tend to be more hyped these days, than factual. Don’t ignore them completely. Too many people follow them.. so consider them the leaders of a ‘herd’.. not necessarily that the direction of the herd is correct.
Also.. don’t forget that ‘moat’ is important. For 3D printing.. the following might put things in more perspective: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RepRap_Project A DIY 3D plastic printer…

Participant

Yet one more reason to leave California.
What? And leave all the wonderful weather behind?
There’s always Nevada where there are no state income taxes.
New York is one the highest taxed places. But there are plenty of billionaires there. Steve Wynn bought a $70 million apartment over there.
True.. but his income is sourced in Nevada and he spends most of his time in Nevada.. which is officially is place of residence. This means that he does not get bit by most of NY taxes. It is probably one of those.. nice to visit but wouldn’t want to live there. He could also be speculating in high priced NY RealEstate…

Participant

zk, are you in SD County?
Yes, but the properties are in Georgia.
For papers for an LLC, you can also use a paralegal or paralegal services. Make sure they are familiar with the rules in Georgia.. (BTW why there.. I heard Delaware gives you better treatment..)BTW, my understanding is that the LLC doesn’t have to be formed in the state that the properties are located in. Are there specific legal advantages that you are looking for when forming the LLC in Georgia?
