ParticipantCan’t they easily use those counterfeit pen thingies I see grocery store cashiers using? I always see them using it on bills>=50.
Those pens are useless. They are a racket perpetrated upon the stores by certain vendors. All that pen is, is a ‘acid’ detector, or pH indicator. US bills are printed on low acidity custom ‘rag paper’. Most paper has a lower (higher acidity) pH than US bills, but ‘archival quality paper’ has similar acidity.
It would be better to outfit the cashiers counters with light tables. The security marks are easy to see when backlit, and differ from denomination to denomination.
For the experimentally interested:

This is not near as sensitive to pH as the ‘pen’, but is fun for kids to play with.April 14, 2010 at 7:12 AM in reply to: OT: Anybody know anything about how banks detect counterfeit $100’s? #539821ucodegen

ParticipantOne of the things missing for estimating whether the rate is good is the LTV on the loan (Loan to Value). FICO and down payment also count. Is the 5.375% the base rate? Are there any additions (cash back.. etc which can affect the rates). Were the additions rolled into the 5.375?

ParticipantDid anyone feel that 5.5 about a half hour ago?
Yep in 92121. It was about a 1 to 2 cm ‘rocking’ motion. Strange thing was that the motion was E-W not N-S. Considering the direction they came from, I suspect them to be ‘S’ waves. I wouldn’t have expected to feel them this far out from the epicenter.

ParticipantI think that Realtor(s) on the board would be the best source of an answer, but my take is that it is a legal document. If your name is ‘totally wrong’, it is a problem. I don’t see what the problem is for it to be correct, for them to correct it. We live in a tech world and such documents are no longer hand typed by a ‘steno-pool’. All that they need to do is update the electronic file and reprint.
Should I insist her to print out the package all over?
In my opinion, yes!
