ParticipantWait till your bundle intro price runs out. Mine just did and my bill jumped from $100 to $140… I called and am downgrading the stuff in the bundle I didn’t want, but took because it was cheaper to get the bundle… I have a landline and don’t need the phone… I have a tivo with cable cards and don’t need the settop. This will knock me back down to under $100 for cable and internet.

ParticipantI agree that unemployment is going to have a huge impact on the economy.
But the “worst case” scenario for the stress tests only has the unemployment going to 10.6%. I can imagine a much worse number.
Maybe it’s because I’m watching it happen around me. My husband’s job went to part-time over the past 6 months and as of this past monday he’s one of the newly minted unemployed. My employer keeps announcing more cuts. My neighbors are all feeling it – the lady across the street lost her job about 6 months ago. My friend is a VP for a large company – they are shutting down the site she runs… she’s not sure if she’ll have a job.
These are all people who are professionals, have been with their employers for years.
The job situation is going to drag the economy down further… which will mean more job losses.

ParticipantThis is going to hit the unemployment numbers hard.
My brother in law has worked for GM for more than 15 years doing accounting/IT stuff. (Yes, somehow he did both).
He applied for a promotion 2 years ago – they gave it to him… but didn’t take away his old job. So he had 2 full time jobs and 1 salary. 2 bosses. Etc. It sucked. Then after the latest round of layoffs he was given a 3rd job. And a 3rd report tree.I think he’s actually hoping to get laid off so he can spend time with his family again.
