Participant
Just a basic question? How many people plan on living in their homes for 25 years? Can I see a show of hands anyone?
UCGal raises her hand, also. And my parents (whom I purchased from) lived here for 35 years. Maybe, someday, I’ll downsize and sell it to my kids and go live in the companion unit we built in the back.
Moving sucks… why do people change houses so much.
(And I’ve lived in 4 states, owned homes in 3… I’m not moving again.)March 11, 2009 at 12:49 PM in reply to: Elite Actor Spends Public Money on his Bloated Mansion #364662UCGal

Along those lines – I have to ask, seriously. Why fix a cavity in a baby tooth ?
We were told, when we asked this question of the dentist, that the issue is infection. As the cavity gets worse, it can get infected, and have implications with the heart.
(Trust me – we asked a LOT of questions before agreeing to extracting 2 baby molars.)

Participant

I have to admit – my first thought was “Why wait until the dental visit ?”
Lol….
Actually, I’m trying to figure out if bad teeth for kids is a pure hygiene issue or is it more genetic.

That’s funny sdduuuude!
flu – I know with my son, it’s not hygiene alone. He had 2 molars erupt (first come out of the gums) already with cavities. And despite being 8 – I insist on brushing his teeth after he does – because he’s had such crappy teeth.
Some of his baby teeth were exceptionally soft according to the dentist. He suspected that I had a fever when those baby teeth were forming (pre-birth.) It wasn’t a brushing thing.
My husband also has crappy teeth.
My younger son has perfect teeth. No cavities, no signs of cavities in his future. I was the same way when I was young. (I didn’t get cavities till I started clenching my teeth due to stress, as an adult.)UCGal

ParticipantOSHPD (Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development) is the governing agency for all things hospital in California. Hospitals (vs medical office buildings) have much stricter codes than other types of construction. Stricter seismic codes… the issues with redundant power… the issues with head walls in the rooms. (The wall with the gases.) Hospitals are not typical construction and the state beauracracy addresses this in permitting them through OSHPD. It’s a different set of requirements/documentation needed.
But like pri-dk, I interpreted the article to say it’s delayed, not killed.
There’s a pretty significant shortage of hospital beds in San Diego county. I would imagine it’s similar in Riverside county. It’s quite a process to build a new hospital from scratch, and get through the OSHPD (pronounce osh-pod) maze.
(Yes, another area I’ve picked up on because my husband had done a lot of hospital architectural jobs.)
