ParticipantOur anniversary is 1/1… so we tend to celebrate new years with a bit of sentimental zing. That said – most years it’s at home with friends/family/kids and we ring in the 9pm (12 ET)… Two times we’ve ditched the kids with family and spent the night downtown – enjoying nice dinners followed by blues at Patricks. (I love that place… not fancy, but GREAT music.)
This year, since it’s our 10th, we’re going large. We’ll be in NYC.

ParticipantThings to consider living close to a freeway (or large, heavily traveled road.) You may get used to the noise… but depending on how close you are – if you open you windows in moderate weather – you’ll have more dust… dust of a greasy-stick-to-stuff kind.
That said – I live above freeway 52 – about 10 house away – but we still get the noise. It’s far enough away the noise doesn’t bother us… but you CAN hear it.

ParticipantCA Renter – I agree about that model and new construction. When we were figuring out design details on our granny flat we went out and looked at these models just to see how high end stuff is done (details like gutters on tile roofs, etc.) This model was the best – single level… the center courtyard, lots of usable space, not a lot of wasted space.
