Participantsdc- sorry to hear it didn’t work out.
It goes both ways. As a seller you worry that you are not getting the top dollar simply because you caved in too quickly. Rarely a buyer gets to buy for exactly as little as the seller was willing to sell for, and the seller rarely sells for as much as the buyer was willing to pay.

I’ll have to disagree that RE transactions are adversarial. When done properly in many cases you have two satisfied parties each looking for a fair deal and each very pleased with the outcome. BTW, I dont beleive in dual agency and can count on one hand no make that one finger how many times I’ve done it (there was one case where it actually made sense for all parties)
Friends just went into escrow. I know the house and felt it was overpriced. So did they – so their first offer was on the low side… it went back and forth 4 times – finally settling “within the range”…. but not at the top.
But she said something about the final negotiation that had a ring of truth…
“Both sides are unhappy with the price – which means it’s probably the right price.”

Participantapplying for choice schools has nothing to do with home ownership… it has to do with residence… where you live – whether you rent or own.
You can absolutely apply for choice (and magnet) schools while renting.

ParticipantScarlett –
Another consideration – Mira Mesa. As AN has stated, most of the elementary schools over there are performing well. And the middle school and high school are as good or better than Stanley/UCHS. It has a reputation that is less than stellar – but the test scores of the past few years are totally in conflict with that reputation…In other words – people avoid Mira Mesa because they think the schools are subpar – but they’re actually very good.
Commute would likely be similar to LJ as from Clairemont.
Here’s an example… 500k, over 1500sf, canyon property.
